Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium
is a sporting complex in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1954 for the World Amateur wrestling, Wrestling Championship, it was also used as the venue for Gymnastics at the 1964 Summer Olympics, gymnastics at the 1964 Summer Olympics, and hosted the table tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics, table tennis competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The gymnasium was rebuilt to a futuristic design created by Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki from 1986 to 1990. The gymnasium is a one-minute walk from Sendagaya Station on the Chūō-Sōbu Line and Kokuritsu Kyogijo Station on the Toei Oedo Line. Shin Seung-chan
Shin Seung-chan (; ; born 6 December 1994) is a South Korean doubles specialist badminton player. She won the women's doubles bronze medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and 2014 BWF World Championships. Shin clinched the women's and mixed doubles gold at the 2015 Summer Universiade, also in the team event in 2013 and 2015. Maiken Fruergaard
Maiken Fruergaard Sørensen (born 11 May 1995) is a Danish badminton player, specializing in doubles play. As a junior player, she was the gold medalists at the 2013 European Junior Championships in the team and mixed doubles events, and in 2014, she entered the national team. Career Fruergaard competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics partnering Sara Thygesen. Her pace at the Games was stopped in the group stage after placing 4th in the group C standings. Zheng Yu
Zheng Yu (; born 7 February 1996) is a Chinese badminton player from the Jiangsu province team. She started playing badminton in 2003, claimed the Jiangsu province title in the singles and doubles category in 2006 and 2007, then was selected to join the national team for the first time in 2010. She was part of the national junior team that won the mixed team gold medals at the 2011 Asian and 2012 World Junior Championships. She won her first senior international title at the BWF Super 500 tournament 2020 Malaysia Masters partnered with Li Wenmei. Career Starting from 2022, Zheng partnered with Zhang Shuxian and finished as the runners-up at the All England Open, Malaysia Open and Singapore Open, before finally winning the Australian Open. Zhang Shuxian
Zhang Shuxian ( zh, 张殊贤; ''Zhāng Shūxián''; born 2 January 2000) is a Chinese badminton player. Career Early career Zhang attended Luzhou Zilu Road School. Later, she was recommended by the city sports school to enter the Sichuan badminton team training, and was transferred to the Sichuan team as an official member in 2016, and was selected for the Chinese national youth team in the same year. In July 2017, Zhang represented China for the first time in the international competition at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships and reached the quarter-finals of the women's doubles. Thinaah Muralitharan
Thinaah Muralitharan (born 3 January 1998) is a Malaysian badminton player. An Olympian, she and Pearly Tan created history by becoming the first ever Malaysian semi-finalists at the women's doubles event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She won the gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the women's doubles with partner Pearly Tan and in the mixed team event. Pearly Tan Koong Le (; born 14 March 2000) is a Malaysian badminton player. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan became the first ever Malaysian semi-finalists in the women's doubles event at the Olympic Games. Kim Hye-jeong
Kim Hye-jeong (; born 3 January 1998) is a South Korean badminton player. She has shown her potential as a badminton player since she was young. Kim entered the regular training in the second grade of elementary school in Wanwol-dong, Masan, and was part of the school team that won the junior national championships in 2008. She twice won the German Junior Open in 2014 and 2015 in the girls' doubles event, and clinched two titles at the 2015 Thailand Open in the girls' and mixed doubles event. Kim was part of the national junior team that won the mixed team silver medal at the 2014 and 2015 Asian Junior Championships, and in the individual event, she claim the mixed doubles bronze in 2014, and 2015 silver and bronze medals in the girls' and mixed doubles event respectively. Jeong Na-eun (; born 27 June 2000) is a South Korean badminton player affiliated with Hwasun County team. She was the silver medalist in the mixed doubles at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She was part of Korean winning team in the 2022 Uber Cup and 2022 Asian Games. Jeong reached a career-high as world number 3 in women's doubles with Kim Hye-jeong and in mixed doubles with Kim Won-ho. Stefani Stoeva
Stefani Stoeva (; born 23 September 1995) is a Bulgarian badminton player specializing in doubles. Her current partner is her older sister, Gabriela Stoeva. They competed at the 2016, 2020 and the 2024 Summer Olympics. The duo together have won gold medals in the 2015 and 2023 European Games and also four successive European Championships in 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2025 editions. Gabriela Stoeva (; born 15 July 1994) is a Bulgarian badminton player specializing in doubles. Her current partner is her younger sister, Stefani Stoeva. The pair is the four-time European Champion and two-time European Games gold medalist as well. They competed at the 2016, 2020 and the 2024 Summer Olympics. Career Gabriela Stoeva started playing badminton at age 10 in the Haskovo School Club. She joined the national team in 2008, and made a debut in the international event in 2009.
