2022 Alberta Curling Series Major
The 2022 Curling Stadium Alberta Curling Series Major was held from September 9 to 18 at the Leduc Recreation Centre in Leduc, Alberta. The men's event ran from September 9 to 12 and the women's event went from September 15 to 18. It was the major men's and women's event held as part of the Alberta Curling Series for the 2022–23 curling season The 2022–23 curling season began in June 2022 and ended in May 2023. ''Note: In events with two genders, the men's tournament winners will be listed before the women's tournament winners.'' World Curling Federation events Source: Championshi .... Leduc, Alberta
Leduc ( ) is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is south of the provincial capital of Edmonton and is part of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. History Leduc was established in 1891, when Robert Telford, a settler, who had bought land, in 1889, near a lake which would later bear his name. It was on that piece of land where the new settlement would take root. Telford established a stopping place for the stagecoach line that in 1889 connected Calgary to Edmonton. It became known as Telford's Place. Telford previously served as an officer for the North-West Mounted Police, and later became Leduc's first postmaster, first general merchantman, and first justice of the peace. Selina Witschonke
Selina Witschonke (born December 17, 1998) is a Swiss curler originally from St. Moritz. She currently plays second on Team Silvana Tirinzoni. Career In 2016, Witschonke was named to the Swiss team for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer. Through the round robin, she led her team of third Henwy Lochmann, second Laura Engler and lead Philipp Hösli to a 6–1 record, finishing second in their pool. They then beat Sweden's Johan Nygren 7–3 in the quarterfinals before dropping the semifinal 7–5 to Canada's Mary Fay. They won the bronze medal with an 11–3 defeat over Russia's Nadezhda Karelina. In the mixed doubles discipline, Witschonke competed with Estonia's Jarl Guštšin. Ian Dickie
Ian Dickie (born December 21, 1985, in Bracebridge, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Newmarket, Ontario. He currently skips his own team based in the Kitchener area. Career While attending Laurentian University in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Dickie played in both the 2007 and 2009 Northern Ontario men's curling championships. After university, Dickie moved to Newmarket, Ontario. He played second for the Chris Ciasnocha rink for one season (2013–14) before forming his own rink as a skip in 2014. Dickie's first Tour event was the 2013 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard. After forming his own team, Dickie re-joined the World Curling Tour for the 2015–16 season. Jason Camm (born November 3, 1994) is a Canadian curler from Rockland, Ontario. He currently plays lead on Team John Epping. Career Juniors In 2011, Camm won both the Ontario Bantam Boys Championship and the Ontario Bantam Mixed Championship, both as a skip. After Bantams, Camm formed a junior team with Aaron Squires as skip, and Camm throwing last rocks. The team won the 2013 Ontario Junior Championships and earned the right to represent the province at the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The team finished the event with a 7-3 record, tied with Manitoba's Matt Dunstone in third place. Marcel Käufeler (born 19 January 1994 in Wettingen, Switzerland) is a retired Swiss curler. Career Käufeler joined the Yannick Schwaller rink at lead for the 2016–17 season. The team also included Romano Meier at third and Reto Keller at second. The team did not have very much success in their first season together and the teams second Reto Keller was replaced Käufeler's junior skip Michael Brunner for the 2017–18 season. Team Schwaller won their first tour event at the 2017 Qinghai International, losing only one game en route to claiming the title. Romano Meier (born 14 April 1995 in Baden) is a Swiss curler from Ehrendingen. He currently plays second on Team Michael Brunner. Career Juniors In 2012, Meier represented Switzerland for the first time internationally at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. The team also included Michael Brunner, Elena Stern and Lisa Gisler.
