2021–22 Liga FPD
The 2021–22 Liga FPD season, also known as Liga Promérica for sponsorship reasons, was the 101st season since its establishment. The tournament was divided into two championships, the Apertura and Clausura, each in an identical format and each contested by 12 teams. Liga FPD
The Primera División of Costa Rica, commonly known as Liga de Fútbol de Primera División (Liga FPD), and Liga Promerica for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football division in Costa Rica. It is administered by the Unión de Clubes de Fútbol de la Primera División (UNAFUT). The league consists of 12 teams, with the last-placed team relegated to the Liga de Ascenso. The league was founded in 1921, with Herediano crowned as the first champions. Saprissa is the most successful club having won the championship a record 40 times. Together with Alajuelense (31 titles) and Herediano (30 titles), they have dominated the league. Competition format The Liga FPD features a format in which two separate tournaments are held over the course of one particular season. The ''Torneo de Apertura'' (Spanish for "Opening Tournament") lasts from July to December, while the ''Torneo de Clausura'' (Spanish for "Closing Tournament") lasts from January to May. From 2007 ... Yeltsin Ignacio Tejeda Valverde (; born 17 March 1992) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Liga FPD club Herediano, which he captains, and the Costa Rica national team. He is named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. Club career Saprissa Tejeda began his career with Saprissa in 2011 scoring one goal against San Carlos. In the 2014 Verano season, Tejeda was named the captain of the team. Juan Miguel Basulto Medina (born 7 January 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer that plays as a centre-back for Liga FPD club Herediano. Club career Youth Basulto joined Guadalajara's youth academy in 2008. Playing in the Chivas Youth Academy going through U-17 and U-20. Until finally reaching the first team, Benjamín Galindo being the coach promoting Basulto to first team. Christian Bolaños Navarro (born 17 May 1984) is a Costa Rican former professional association football, footballer who played as a right winger. The Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto is a football stadium in ''El Llano'' neighborhood of Alajuela, Costa Rica, which is the home of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, one of the most successful football clubs from Costa Rica. Gabriel Arturo Torres Tejada (born 31 October 1988) is a Panamanian professional footballer who plays for Tauro and the Panama national team.
