2021–22 IIHF Continental Cup
The 2021–22 Continental Cup was the 24th edition of the IIHF Continental Cup, Europe's second-tier ice hockey club competition organised by International Ice Hockey Federation. The season began on 24 September 2021 and the final tournament was scheduled to be played from 4 to 6 March 2022. The Polish team Cracovia won the tournament for the first time, thanks to which they got the right to participate in the 2022–23 Champions Hockey League. KS Cracovia (ice Hockey)
Cracovia, commonly erroneously referred to as Cracovia Kraków and currently playing as Comarch Cracovia for sponsorship reasons, is a professional ice hockey team based in Kraków, Poland. With 12 Polish Championships (as of 2022), it is one of the most accomplished Polish ice hockey teams. They play in the Polska Hokej Liga, the country's top division. History Founded in 1906, Cracovia is the oldest existing sports club in Poland. Ice hockey in the form of bandy had been first played around 1909, and the first North American style ice hockey game was played in 1912. The ice hockey section of the sports club was created in 1923. Currently, the men's ice hockey section functions independently, and is legally called MKS Cracovia SSA. Polska Hokej Liga
The Polska Hokej Liga (''PHL'') is the premier ice hockey league in Poland. The highest professional level of ice hockey in Poland is the Polish Hockey League (PHL); also referred to as the Polska Hokej Liga. Previously, it was known as the I Liga or Ekstraklasa from 1926 to 1999, and the Polska Liga Hokejowa from 1999 to 2013. In 2013, it was reorganized as a limited liability company and renamed the Polska Hokej Liga. It follows a system of relegation to and promotion to/from the Polish 1. Liga. CSM Corona Brașov, founded in 2007 as ''Sport Club Municipal Fenestela 68'', is a professional ice hockey team in Brașov, Romania. The club has won six league titles and one Erste Liga title. Hockey Club Sokil Kyiv (; ), commonly known as Sokil Kyiv, HC Sokil, or HC Sokol Kiev, is a Ukrainian professional ice hockey team based in Kyiv. While their home arena is located in the city, the team also plays out of Brovary, still within the Kyiv region. The Slovenian Hockey League () or the National Championship () is the highest level ice hockey league in Slovenia. The championship phase is contested after the regular season to determine the national champion. History The Slovenian Hockey League was firstly contested in the 1991–92 season, with the championship being held at the end as the play-offs. Over time, some Slovenian teams entered the Austrian Hockey League, and joined only for the play-offs. In the 2007–08 season there was an issue, as the Croatian team Medveščak qualified for the play-offs. Hokejsko drsalno društvo Jesenice or simply HDD Jesenice is a Slovenian ice hockey team based in Jesenice. They are members of the Alps Hockey League and the Slovenian Ice Hockey League. The Coupe de France () an ice hockey competition in France. It is the premier knockout cup organized by the French Ice Hockey Federation. Formula Participation is mandatory for the three highest tiers of the French men's hockey pyramid, and voluntary for members of the fourth tier, which may require the staging of a preliminary round for select teams in some years. Teams from the country's top tier, the Ligue Magnus, enter in the second round. Hockey Club Amiens Somme is a French ice hockey team based in Amiens playing in the Ligue Magnus. The team is also known as "Gothiques d'Amiens" (Amiens Gothics). The Latvian Hockey Higher League (), also known as the Optibet Hockey League () since 2017 due to sponsorship by Optibet, is the top tier league of ice hockey in Latvia. The league is competed by nine teams from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Previously it was also known as the Latvian Open Hockey Championships (''Latvijas atklātais čempionāts hokejā'') and the Samsung Premier League (''Samsung Premjerlīga'') from 2006 to 2008. HK Olimp/Venta 2002
HK Olimp/Venta 2002 are a Latvian ice hockey team that plays in the Optibet Hockey League, the top tier of the sport in Latvia. The team is based in Riga and play their home games at the Inbox Ice Arena. History HK Olimp was founded in 2018, and the following year joined the Optibet Hockey League where they were immediately considered to be dark horses for the championship, due to have several Latvian national team members as part of their roster, including Georgijs Pujacs and Aleksejs Širokovs, both of whom also had KHL significant experience. The dark horse appellation turned out to be prescient as the team were in 1st place in their inaugural season, before the play-offs were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Italian Hockey League Serie A, formerly known as Serie A, is the top tier of professional ice hockey in Italy, which first began play in 1925. They are conducted under the authority of the Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio (FISG). The league initially merged with the Inter-National League to become the Alps Hockey League in 2016.
