The 2021–22 season was FC Zürich's 126th season in existence and the club's fifth consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football. In addition to the domestic league, Zürich participated in this season's editions of the Swiss Cup. André Breitenreiter (born 2 October 1973) is a German professional football coach and former player who is the manager of German Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim. In 2022, he won the Swiss title with Zürich. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Yanick Brecher (born 25 May 1993) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for FC Zürich. Club career Early career In his youth, Brecher played for FC Männedorf before joining Zürich. He came up through the Zürich youth system, playing for the under-18s and under-23s before entering the first team. FC Zürich Brecher signed for the senior team in the summer of 2011. Ante Ćorić (; born 14 April 1997) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Serie A club Roma. He has also represented the Croatia national team.
