2021 Wooroloo Bushfires
The 2021 Wooroloo bushfire was a fast moving bushfire that started on 1 February in Wooroloo, north-east of the Perth central business district, in the Shire of Mundaring, Western Australia. By 2 February, the bushfire emergency had spread to Shires of Chittering and Northam, and the City of Swan. It had destroyed at least 86 houses and 2 fire trucks. By 6 February, the bushfire had travelled from its source. The fire coincided with a five day lockdown of the Perth metropolitan region that started at 6pm on 31 January, due to a case of COVID-19 outside of hotel quarantine. In July 2021, WA Police charged a man with a breach of duty and carrying out an activity that could cause a fire, alleging that he used an angle grinder that caused sparks. Walyunga National Park
Walyunga National Park is a national park in Western Australia, 35 km northeast of Perth along the Great Northern Highway. There is also an eponymous locality of the City of Swan, but the boundaries of the national park and the locality are not identical. Description The park is situated just behind the Darling Scarp in the Darling Range spread over a steeply sided valley. The Swan- Avon River and the Eastern Railway run through the park and the Avon Descent passes through a set of rapids along this section. The area is dominated by granite outcrops along with smaller dolerite areas, the tops of hills are capped with laterite. The park has barbeque, parking and toilet facilities. Christopher John Dawson is the 34th Governor of Western Australia and a former police officer who served as the List of commissioners of the Western Australia Police Force, Commissioner of the Western Australia Police Force from 2017 to 2022. RAAF Base Pearce is the main Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base in Western Australia, located in Bullsbrook, north of Perth. It is used for training by the RAAF and the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Pearce is the busiest RAAF base in Australia, with the highest air traffic including civil flights, including civil movements at the Joint User bases.
