2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational
The 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational was a professional golf tournament being held August at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. It was the 23rd and final WGC Invitational tournament, the third of the World Golf Championships events in 2021. It was also the 64th year that the PGA Tour stopped in Memphis; dating back to the 1958 Memphis Open. The WGC Invitational was removed from the schedule in 2022, with the venue of the tournament hosting the FedEx St. Jude Championship, a FedEx Cup playoff event, ultimately replacing The Northern Trust. Abraham Ancer won the event after making a birdie at the second hole of a sudden-death playoff against Sam Burns and Hideki Matsuyama. Ron Prichard
Ron Prichard (born 1945 or 1946) is an American golf course designer and restorer. His original designs include the TPC at Southwind, Memphis, Tennessee, now home of the FedEx St. Jude Classic. However, he is perhaps better known for masterminding the restoration of courses originally created by the Scottish-American designer Donald Ross (1872 – 1948), among them Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Township, Pennsylvania. Career Prichard decided on his career path while in college. "I'd ask myself back then what I wanted to be doing when I was 50," he recalled to one interviewer. "And the answer was a golf architect. Thomas Paul Fleetwood (born 19 January 1991) is an English professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. He has won six times on the European Tour. Matthew Thomas Fitzpatrick (born 1 September 1994) is an English professional golfer. After winning the 2013 U.S. Amateur, he later won his first professional tournament at the 2015 British Masters. Official World Golf Ranking
The Official World Golf Ranking is a system for rating the performance level of professional golfers. It was started in 1986. The rankings are based on a player's position in individual tournaments (i.e. not pairs or team events) over a "rolling" two-year period. New rankings are calculated each week. During 2018, nearly 400 tournaments on 20 tours were covered by the ranking system. All players competing in these tournaments are included in the rankings. In 2022, 23 tours factored into the world rankings. As well as being of general interest, the rankings have an additional importance, in that they are used as one of the qualifying criteria for entry into a number of leading tournaments.
