2021 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2021 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 27th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 76th FIM Speedway World Championship. The calendar of events was disrupted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the series was dominated by Polish venues once again, with six of the 11 races taking place in Poland. Great Britain and Germany did not hold an event, however Russia was added to the calendar for the first time. In 2020, six of the eight races had been held in Poland. Artem Laguta won his first world title. Laguta overtook defending champion Bartosz Zmarzlik in the points standings in round 10, which proved to be the pivotal moment of the championship. Russian athletes competed as neutral competitors using the designation MFR (Motorcycle Federation of Russia), as the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a ban on Russia competing at World Championships. Artem Laguta
Artem Grigoryevich Laguta (; born 13 November 1990) is a Russian motorcycle speedway rider and member of the Russian national team. He is the 2021 World Champion. Career details Laguta became the Russian champion in 2010 and 2011. In August 2010, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2011 Grand Prix. He is also a three times world team champion with Russia after partnering Emil Sayfutdinov during three consecutive years, as Russia won the Speedway of Nations in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In April 2020, he obtained a dual national speedway licence after obtaining a Polish licence, although he continued to represent Russia. Laguta became the 2021 Individual World Champion after winning the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix with 192 points. Max Fricke (born 29 March 1996) is an Australian speedway rider. He is a World team champion, three time Australian champion and four times Australian Under-21 Champion. Markéta Stadium
The Markéta Stadium () is a 10,000-capacity multi-use stadium on U Vojtěšky in Břevnov, Prague, Czech Republic. The stadium hosts motorcycle speedway and has been the home of the Speedway Grand Prix of Czech Republic since 1997. The speedway track has a circumference of 353 metres (386 yards). The stadium opened during the 1930s as an athletics ground and is home to the athletics club PSK Olymp Praha (athletics), PSK Olymp Praha and the Prague speedway team AK Markéta Praha. Jan Kvěch (born 18 October 2001) is a Czech international speedway rider. He is a member of the Czech Republic national speedway team. Career Kvěch won the bronze medal at the Czech Republic Championship in 2019. He qualified for the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix and won the 2020 European Individual Speedway Under 19 Championship. He won the silver medal at the World Under-21 Championship in the 2022 SGP2 and a silver medal at the 2022 Czech National Championship. In 2023, he was part of the Czech team that competed at the 2023 Speedway World Cup in Poland. Also in 2023, by finishing fifth in the Grand Prix Challenge, he sealed a place in the 2024 Speedway Grand Prix. Lukas Fienhage (born 12 September 1999) is an international speedway rider from Germany. Speedway career Fienhage was part of the German team, along with Martin Smolinski and Max Dilger, that won the silver medal at the 2019 Team Long Track World Championship. Daniel Bewley (born 20 May 1999) is a British international speedway rider. Career Bewley started riding for the Belle Vue Colts and as a reserve for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2017. In 2017, he won the National League Riders' Championship before being promoted to the senior side (Belle Vue Aces) in 2017. The same year he won the 2017 Conference League Riders' Championship. Dominik Kubera (born 15 April 1999) is an international speedway rider from Poland. Speedway career Kubera won a bronze and a silver medal at the World Under 21 Championship in 2019 and 2020 respectively. He had previously won the 2018 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship. During the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix he won silver and bronze medals in the 5th and 6th rounds of the World Championship. In 2022, he helped Lublin win the 2022 Ekstraliga. Aleksandr Loktaev
Aleksandr Dmitrievich Loktaev or Oleksandr Lokatev (, born 10 January 1994) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Ukraine. Career Loktaev first rode in Poland for Falubaz Zielona Góra in the 2010 Polish speedway season. In 2010, he qualified for the 2010 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship Semi-Final One but one week before the Semi-Final, Loktaev was injured in a Danish Speedway League match between Holstebro and Vojens. Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and a triple Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020.
