The 2021 Kyalami 9 Hours was an endurance event that took place on 5 February 2022 at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, South Africa. The event was the third and final round of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge. Initially it was to be held on 2-4 December, but it was postponed due to SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant cases in South Africa and rescheduled to 3-5 February 2022. Midrand is a former municipality in central Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated in-between Centurion and Sandton and now forms part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. History Midrand was established as a municipality in 1981 (in an area known as ''Halfway House'', after its position between Pretoria and Johannesburg), but ceased to be an independent town in the restructuring of local government that followed the end of apartheid in 1994. It was incorporated in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in 2000. It was made part of Region 2 and, as of 2006, when the number of regions were reduced to seven, it forms part of Region A of the City of Johannesburg. Alessandro Pier Guidi (born December 18, 1983) is a racing driver from Italy. He drove two races for the Italian A1 Team. A Ferrari factory driver since 2017, he won LMGTE-PRO 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship and 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, and 2021 24 Hours of Spa. Pier Guidi drove a Ferrari 430 GT in the Spanish GT Championship and Italian GT Championship in 2005 and 2006, for the Scuderia Playteam. The Ferrari F154 is a family of modular twin-turbocharged, direct injected V8 petrol engines designed and produced by Ferrari since 2013. It is a replacement for the naturally aspirated ''Ferrari/Maserati'' F136 V8 family on both Maserati and Ferrari cars.
