2021 Hungarian Darts Trophy
The 2021 Hungarian Darts Trophy was the first PDC European Tour event on the 2021 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena, Budapest, Hungary from 3–5 September 2021. It featured a field of 47 players and £140,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the winner. Gerwyn Price became the inaugural champion after defeating Michael Smith 8–2 in the final, winning his 4th European Tour title. This was the first PDC tournament held in Hungary; the tournament was originally scheduled to take place in 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. László Papp Budapest Sports Arena
The László Papp Budapest Sports Arena (), also known as Budapest Sports Arena or locally just Arena, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Budapest, Hungary. It is the second biggest sports complex in the country after MVM Dome, which is also in the capital, and it is named after Hungarian boxer László Papp. The venue can hold up to 12,500 people in its largest concert configuration, up to 11,390 for boxing and 9,479 for ice hockey. It was built as a replacement for the Budapest Sports Hall (, or ''BS'' for short) which stood in the same place and was destroyed in a fire in December 1999. William James O'Connor (born 15 July 1986) is an Irish professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He reached his first major semi-final at the 2022 UK Open. O'Connor won his first ranking title at 2019 PDC Players Championship 13. He has finished as the runner-up in two PDC European Tour events. Robert Cross (born 21 September 1990) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number eight; he reached a peak ranking of world number two in 2018 and 2019. The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
