2021 Golden Gala
The 2021 Golden Gala was the 41st edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting held in Italy, this time in Florence rather than the usual Rome location. Held on 10 June at the , it was the third leg of the 2021 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The meeting was highlighted by Dina Asher-Smith's victory in the 200 metres, as well as Jakob Ingebrigtsen's unexpected European record in the 5000 metres with a time of 12:48.45 in his first sub-13 clocking. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the Diamond League finals in Zürich. First place earned 8 points, with each step down in place earning one less point than the previous, until no points are awarded in 9th place or lower. Mike Rodgers
Michael Rodgers (born April 24, 1985) is an American professional track and field sprinter who specializes in the 100 m and the 60 m. He won the gold medal in the 100m relay in Doha 2019. He is also the Pan-Am Games Champion. Career Rodgers attended Berkeley High School in St. Louis, Missouri where he ran varsity track and played varsity basketball for the Bulldogs. Later attended Lindenwood University and Oklahoma Baptist University where he was a 10-time NAIA national champion from 2005 to 2007. Rodgers still holds the NAIA Indoor 60m record with a 6.65. In 60 meters, he became the 2008 US Indoor Champion and went on to finish fourth at the 2008 World Indoor Championships. In the 100 meters he finished sixth at the 2008 World Athletics Final. Mohammed Ahmed (born January 5, 1991) is a Canadian long-distance runner. A three-time Olympian, he is his country's most successful athlete in long distance racing, being the first to medal in the 5000 metres at both the World Championships (bronze in 2019) and the Olympic Games (silver in 2021). As well he is a two-time silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games in the 5000m and 10,000m events and was the 2015 Pan American champion in the 10,000 m.
