2021 Danish Nurses Strike
The 2021 Danish nurses strike was a labour strike by nurses in Denmark. Represented by the Danish Nurses' Organization (in Danish ''Dansk SygeplejerĂĄd'', abbrev. ''DSR''), the nurses went on strike in search of better pay beginning in mid-June 2021. The strike was ended in August 2021 when the Danish Parliament imposed a pay deal on the nurses. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by a virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Magnus Johannes Heunicke (born 28 January 1975 in Næstved) is a Danish journalist and politician who serves as a member of the Folketing for the Social Democrats political party. He was the Minister of Health from 2019 to 2022, and minister of elderly affairs from 2019 to 2021. The Red–Green Alliance or Unity List ( da, Enhedslisten – De Rød-Grønne, , EL) is an eco-socialist political party in Denmark. The Danish People's Party ( da, Dansk Folkeparti, DPP/DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The DPP lent its support to the Venstre– Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. While not part of the cabinet, DPP cooperated closely with the governing coalition on most issues and received support for key political stances in return, to the point that the government was commonly referred to as the "VKO-government" (O being DPP's election symbol).
