2021 Campeonato Mineiro
The 2021 Campeonato Mineiro (officially Campeonato Mineiro SICOOB 2021 – Módulo I for sponsorship reasons) was the 107th edition of the state championship of Minas Gerais organized by the FMF. The competition began on 27 February and ended on 22 May 2021. Due to the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, FMF suspended the Campeonato Mineiro between 22 and 31 March 2021. The tournament resumed on 1 April 2021. The defending champions Atlético Mineiro successfully defended their title winning their 46th Campeonato Mineiro. Format First stage The 2021 Módulo I first stage was contested by 12 clubs in a single round-robin tournament. The four best-placed teams qualified for the final stage and the bottom two teams were relegated to the 2022 Módulo II. The three best-placed teams not already qualified for the 2022 seasons of the Série A, Série B or Série C, gained berths in the 2022 Série D. Campeonato Mineiro
The Campeonato Mineiro is the top-flight professional state football league in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. It is run by the Minas Gerais Football Federation (FMF). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. Before the stadium's inauguration América and Atlético were the most successful teams in the state, but after the construction of the Mineirão, known as the "Era Mineirão" ("Mineirão Era"), another team from the capital, Cruzeiro, also gained prominence. Atlético is the most successful team in the competition, having won 50 championships as of 2025, trailed by Cruzeiro with 38 championships. São João del-Rei is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Minas Gerais. Founded in 1713 in homage to king John V of Portugal, the city is famed for its historic Portuguese colonial architecture. Lisca (football Manager)
Luiz Carlos Cirne Lima de Lorenzi (born 11 August 1972), commonly known as Lisca, is a Brazilian football coach. He is often referred as Lisca Doido (''Crazy Lisca or Mad Lisca'' in Portuguese) due to his extravagant celebrations. Career Born in Porto Alegre, Lisca played as a forward for Internacional's youth setup before retiring at the age of 17 due to studies. He started his coaching career in the very same club, joining as coach of their youth categories in 1990.
