2021 Campeonato Baiano
The 2021 Campeonato Baiano (officially the Campeonato Baiano de Futebol Profissional Série “A” – Edição 2021) was the 117th edition of Bahia's top professional football league. The competition began on 17 February and ended on 23 May. Esporte Clube Bahia, Bahia were the defending champions but they were eliminated in the semi-finals. The finals were played between Alagoinhas Atlético Clube, Atlético de Alagoinhas and Associação Desportiva Bahia de Feira, Bahia de Feira. This was the first season of the Campeonato Baiano with the finals played between two teams from outside of Salvador, Bahia, Salvador. Atlético de Alagoinhas won 5–4 on aggregate obtaining the first title. As champions, Atlético de Alagoinhas qualified for the 2022 Copa do Brasil and the 2022 Copa do Nordeste. Campeonato Baiano
The Campeonato Baiano is the football league of the state of Bahia, Brazil. The championship has been played since 1905 without interruption. 2020 format First stage: 10 teams are included in one group, playing once only against all teams in the group. The four best teams qualify to the semifinals, while the last-placed team is relegated to the Second Level. Final stage The four best teams play in a two-legged knockout tie, with the first facing the fourth and the second facing the third placed. The winner of each Semifinal qualify for the Finals, which occur in the same way. The winners of the finals are the champions. In case that two teams end tied after a round, those with the best record in the first stage qualify. The competition began on 15 January and ended on 10 April 2022. This was the first season in history without a team from Salvador ranked in the top four of the tournament. The defending champions Atlético de Alagoinhas defeated Jacuipense 3–1 on aggregate obtaining their second title. As champions, Atlético de Alagoinhas qualified for the 2023 Copa do Brasil and the 2023 Copa do Nordeste. Esporte Clube Primeiro Passo Vitória da Conquista, commonly referred to as Vitória da Conquista, is a Brazilian football club based in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. UNIRB Futebol Clube is a Brazilian football club in the city of Alagoinhas, in the state of Bahia. Their colors are blue, red and white. The club is linked to the Centro Universitário UNIRB. Competed in the Campeonato Baiano Second Level for access to the first division, in 2019 for the first time. History The club belongs to the UNIRB education network (Centro Universitário Regional do Brasil). It was created in an academic extension project with the initial objective of helping to develop the education of students at the institution, in areas such as Physical Education, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Psychology and Law. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead.
