2021 Belgrade Challenger
The 2021 Belgrade Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts. It was the ninth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2021 ATP Challenger Tour. It took place in Belgrade, Serbia between 12 and 18 April 2021. For the first time, a women's tournament was also held between 26 and 31 July, categorized as a WTA 125 event at the same venue, which was part of 2021 WTA 125K series. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Philipp Eberhard Hermann Kohlschreiber (; born 16 October 1983) is a German former professional tennis player. The right-hander won eight singles and seven doubles titles on the ATP World Tour and made the quarterfinals at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. He reached his highest ATP singles ranking of world No. 16 in July 2012. Personal life Kohlschreiber married his long-term girlfriend Lena Alberti on 1 August 2018 in Kitzbühel, Austria. Marco Trungelliti (; born 31 January 1990) is an Argentina, Argentine professional tennis player and competes mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Futures, both in singles and doubles. Alessandro Giannessi (born 30 May 1990) is a professional Italian tennis player. On 24 July 2017 he reached his highest ATP singles ranking of 84 while his best doubles ranking was 171 on 14 October 2013. Career Giannessi made his Grand Slam debut at the 2016 US Open (tennis) as a qualifier where he recorded his first Major win defeating Denis Kudla in five sets. Elliot Benchetrit
Elliot Benchetrit (born 2 October 1998) is a Moroccan tennis player who formerly represented France. Since 1 January 2021 Benchetrit started to represent Morocco. His highest singles ranking was No. 198 on 10 February 2020, and his highest doubles ranking was No. 198 on 10 June 2019. He has won three singles titles on the ITF Men's Circuit, and two doubles titles, as well as another doubles title on the ATP Challenger Tour. Matthias Bachinger (born 2 April 1987) is a professional tennis player from Germany who turned professional in 2005. His career-high singles ranking is world No. 85, achieved in August 2011. Professional career In 2007, Bachinger qualified for his first ATP tournament, the 2007 BMW Open.
