2021 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy
The 2021 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy was held on October 13–17, 2021, in Beijing, China. It was intended to be a 2021–22 ISU Challenger Series event. However, as only the men's and women's singles events featured international participants and the total number of ISU member nations represented at the event totalled nine, it did not meet the necessary criteria to qualify for Challenger Series status. Medals were awarded in single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. In January 2021, the International Skating Union announced that the 2021 Asian Open Trophy would replace the 2020–21 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, 2020–21 Grand Prix Final as the designated international test event for the 2022 Winter Olympics. 2021–22 Figure Skating Season
The 2021–22 figure skating season began on July 1, 2021, and ended on June 30, 2022. During this season, elite skaters competed at the ISU Championship level at the 2022 European Championships, Four Continents Championships, World Junior Championships, and World Championships, as well as at the 2022 Winter Olympics. They also competed at elite events such as the Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix series, and the ISU Challenger Series. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grand Prix Final was cancelled, while parts of the Junior Grand Prix, Grand Prix, and Challenger Series were not held as scheduled. Among the ISU Championships events, the 2022 Four Continents Championships were relocated, and the 2022 World Junior Championships were also postponed and relocated. Yang Yongchao (; born August 25, 1998) is a Chinese pair skater who currently competes with Zhang Siyang. Together, they are the 2022 Chinese nationals pairs skating champions.
