The 2020/21 Moçambola is the 43nd season of Moçambola, the top-tier football league in Mozambique. The 2020/21 season started on January 16, 2021. ENH changed name to Associação Desportiva Vilanculo during the season. After the 4th round, due to the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the competition was stopped and postponed for three months. Moçambola
Moçambola (or Campeonato Moçambicano de Futebol, Portuguese for Mozambican Football Championship) is the top division of Mozambican football. It is organized by the Liga Moçambicana de Futebol. History In 1976, shortly after the country's independence from Portugal, the competition's first season was contested. Only five clubs took part: Académica Maputo, AD Pemba, Desportivo de Maputo, Desportivo Tete, and Textáfrica. Until 2005, the competition was named Liga 2M. In 2005, the league was renamed to Moçambola. Competition format The league consists of 12 clubs, with each team competing against each other team twice, round-robin style, for a total of 24 matches per season. Chimoio
Chimoio is the capital of Manica Province in Mozambique. It is the fifth-largest city in Mozambique. Chimoio's name under Portuguese administration was ''Vila Pery''. Vila Pery developed under Portuguese rule as an important agricultural and textiles centre. The town lies on the railway line from Beira to Bulawayo, near the Cabeça do Velho rock and the Chimanimani National Park. Located about 95 km from the Zimbabwean border, it has been a major destination for Zimbabwean immigrants looking for employment in Mozambique. GDR Textáfrica
Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo Textáfrica, usually known simply as Textáfrica, is a traditional football (soccer) club based in Chimoio, central Mozambique. History The club was founded in 1928 as Sport Club de Vila Pery. In 1957, it was refounded as Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo Textáfrica, a works team of a textile factory belonging to the Portuguese company SOALPO (Sociedade Algodoeira de Portugal). The club won the title of the second stage in 1969, with the title of the Campeonato Colonial de Moçambique. After the independence of Mozambique from Portugal, Textáfrica do Chimoio won the Mozambican League, in 1976. Estádio Da Machava
The Estádio da Machava is a multi-purpose stadium in Machava, a mainly residential subdivision of the city of Matola, in the outskirts of Maputo, Mozambique. It is used for football matches and can hold 45,000 spectators. The stadium was built by the Portuguese colonial government of Mozambique and inaugurated as ''Estádio Salazar'', named after the Portuguese dictator António de Oliveira Salazar, on 30 June 1968, with a match between Portugal and Brazil, which the latter, formally the visitors, won 2:0. It was in Machava that the Declaration of National Independence of Mozambique took place, on June 25, 1975. It is now owned by Clube Ferroviário de Maputo. Zambézia
Zambezia ( ) is the second most-populous province of Mozambique, located in the central coastal region south-west of Nampula Province and north-east of Sofala Province. It has a population of 5.11 million, according to the 2017 census. The provincial capital is Quelimane. Zambezia has a total area of 103,478 km2. The 2,574 kilometre Zambezi River runs through Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique before emptying into the Indian Ocean off the coast of Zambezia. Mangroves are predominant along the coast and five of the 10 islands archipelago are offshore of the region. Considerable forests can be found inland, with a scattering of estuaries and rivers.
