The 2020–21 Cupa României was the 83rd season of the annual Romanian primary football knockout tournament. The winner qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2021–22 UEFA Europa Conference League. Times up to 26 October 2020 and from 29 March 2021 are EEST (UTC+3). Fotbal Club FCSB (), formerly named and still sometimes referred to as FC Steaua București, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the Liga I, the top flight of the Romanian football league system. The original ''Steaua București'' football team was founded in 1947 and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence, through the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club. In 1998, the football department and its facilities were separated from the latter and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, leading to one of the shareholders acquiring full ownership five years later. Asociația Fotbal Club Hermannstadt (), commonly known as FC Hermannstadt, Hermannstadt, or familiarly as Sibiu (), is a Romanian professional Association football, football Club (organization), club based in the city of Sibiu, Sibiu County, that competes in the Liga I. The team was founded in 2015 and entered the Liga IV, fourth division, with ''Hermannstadt'' being the equivalent of the city's name in the standard German language (i.e. Standard German, Hochdeutsch). Fotbal Club Metaloglobus București, commonly known as Metaloglobus București or simply as Metaloglobus, is a Romanian professional association football, football club based in Bucharest, that competes in the Liga I. History Metaloglobus București was founded in 1923 as the football team of the Metaloglobus factory, a powerful factory that was founded in the same year by the Austrian industrialist Manfréd Weiss Steel and Metal Works, Manfréd Weiss. AFC Turris-Oltul Turnu Măgurele, commonly known as Turris Turnu Măgurele, or simply Turris, was a Romanian professional football club based in Turnu Măgurele, Teleorman County. The team was founded as ''Voința Saelele'' in 1965 and was originally based in Saelele, Teleorman County. The club played only at amateur level, Liga IV and Liga V, until 2017 when it won Liga IV – Teleorman County and the promotion play-off against CS Strehaia ensuring its first Liga III presence.
