2020–2021 Protests Against Benjamin Netanyahu
A series of protests against Prime Minister of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, colloquially referred to as the Balfour Protests () or Black Flag Protests (), gained prominence in Israel throughout 2020 and 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel, COVID-19 pandemic and the trial of Benjamin Netanyahu, ongoing trial of Netanyahu for various corruption scandals. Protesters accused Netanyahu of subjecting the law as part of his fight in criminal proceedings against him. The demonstrators protested against Netanyahu's continued tenure in the shadow of his criminal charges, claims of his preference for personal good over the good of the state, and demands to investigate the "submarine affair". 2018–2022 Israeli Political Crisis
The 2018–2022 Israeli political crisis was a period of political instability in Israel, in which five Knesset snap elections were held in a span of over three years: in April 2019, September 2019, March 2020, March 2021 and November 2022. In the early phases of the crisis, the popular phrasing of the core division within the parties and the public was "only Bibi" () or "anyone but Bibi" (). This stalemate was created due to the refusal of the liberal wing of the parliament to form a coalition with Netanyahu, while the Likud party – the prominent party of the conservative wing – refused to remove Netanyahu from the party's leadership. Or-ly Barlev (; born: June 2, 1972) is an Israeli social activist, and independent journalist. She is the first independent journalist, not backed by a media organization, who was accepted to the Israeli Journalism and Media Council. Her operation is funded by public donations. Biography Or-ly Barlev was born and grew up in Ashdod, the eldest child of three. Her mother was a dental assistant and her father was an electronic technician. After her service in the Israeli Defense Forces, she studied for her bachelor's degree in communication and management at Israel's College of Management. In conjunction with her studies, she broadcast traffic reports on Reshet Gimmel radio. From 1997 to 2000 Barlev was a journalist on Reshet Bet radio of Kol Israel. Reuven "Ruvi" Rivlin ( ; born 9 September 1939) is an Israeli politician and lawyer who served as the president of Israel between 2014 and 2021. He is a member of the Likud party.
