2020 XFL Season
The 2020 XFL season was the first season in the reboot of the XFL, and the second in the history of the XFL brand created and owned by professional wrestling magnate Vince McMahon, coming 19 years after the 2001 XFL season. The season began on February 8, 2020, with the DC Defenders hosting and defeating the Seattle Dragons. The league planned to have a ten-week regular season through April 12, with division championships April 18 and 19, with the XFL Championship scheduled for April 26 in Houston. In March 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the XFL announced that the league would be canceling the rest of the season, ahead of the league's suspension of operations and bankruptcy filing a month later. The Seattle Sea Dragons were a professional American football team based in Seattle, Washington. The Sea Dragons competed in the second incarnation of the XFL (2020), XFL. John Shumway
John Shumway is an American journalist, working at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shumway began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WLAP Radio in Lexington, Kentucky. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Eastern Kentucky University in 1978. After graduation, he started his news career in the WLAP Radio newsroom. In 1979, Shumway moved to WHAS Radio News in Louisville, Kentucky, where he switched over to WHAS-TV News as a reporter in 1982. He joined KDKA-TV in October 1988 as a General Assignment Reporter. The Alliance of American Football (AAF) was a professional American football minor league. The AAF consisted of eight centrally owned and operated teams in the southern and western United States, seven of which were located in metropolitan areas with at least one major professional sports franchise. Founded by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian in 2018, the AAF began play on February 9, 2019. The league was scheduled to have a 10-week regular season and conclude with a championship game on April 27. After eight weeks of play, however, the league's football operations were suspended by controlling owner Thomas Dundon on April 2.
