2020 World Grand Prix (darts)
The 2020 BoyleSports World Grand Prix was a darts tournament and the 23rd staging of the World Grand Prix (darts), World Grand Prix. It was held from 6–12 October 2020 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, England, Behind closed doors (sport), behind closed doors. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was held away from the Citywest, Citywest Hotel in Dublin for the first time since 2000. Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion, after defeating Dave Chisnall 5–2 in 2019 World Grand Prix (darts), the 2019 final, to win his second consecutive and fifth overall World Grand Prix title. However, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, after losing 3–0 to Simon Whitlock of Australia. Gerwyn Price went on to beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 5–2 in the final to win the tournament for the first time. The Coventry Building Society Arena (often shortened to the CBS Arena or just simply Coventry Arena, and formerly known as the Ricoh Arena) is a complex in Coventry, West Midlands, England. Dirk Van Duijvenbode
Dirk van Duijvenbode (born 30 June 1992) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is known for his energetic walk-on, combined with hardstyle music. More recently, he has become known for his job on an aubergine farm, which has led to him having the nickname 'Aubergenius'. Jeffrey de Zwaan (born 26 March 1996) is a Dutch professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He has won two PDC Players Championship events. Stephen Bunting (born 9 April 1985) is an English professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, where he is currently ranked world number four. Adrian Lewis (born 21 January 1985) is an English professional darts player who formerly competed in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Nicknamed "Jackpot", he is a two-time PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2011 and 2012. 2020 PDC Pro Tour
The 2020 PDC Pro Tour was a series of non-televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Players Championships and European Tour events are the events that make up the Pro Tour. There were 27 PDC Pro Tour events held, 23 Players Championships and 4 European Tour events. This page also includes results from the PDC's affiliated tours including the Development and Challenge Tours and all the regional tours as well as the results from the World Championship regional qualifiers. There were 10 Challenge Tour events, 10 Development Tour events, 2 PDC Nordic and Baltic Events, 6 Dartplayers Australia Pro Tour events, 3 EuroAsian Darts Corporation Pro Tour Events and 8 Championship Darts Circuit Pro Tour events during the 2020 season. PDC Order Of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Following the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship it superseded a world ranking system based on points being awarded for performances in ranking tournaments. Methodology The Professional Darts Corporation adopted an Order of Merit system in 2007, which is based on prize money won over two years for the main Order of Merit and separate one-year rankings for other PDC Pro Tour events.
