2020 Oregon Attorney General Election
The 2020 Oregon Attorney General election was held on November 3, 2020, to elect the Attorney General of Oregon. Incumbent Democratic Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum was originally appointed to the role by former Governor John Kitzhaber on June 29, 2012 to finish the term of her predecessor John Kroger, who resigned from office. She was elected to a full term in 2012 and re-elected in 2016. This office is not subject to term limits, and Rosenblum won a third full term, defeating Republican activist Michael Cross who led an unsuccessful 2019 attempt to recall Governor Kate Brown. It features reports on local news, politics, sports, business, and culture. History Early history ''Willamette Week'' was founded in 1974 by Ronald A. Buel, who served as its first publisher. A general election was held in the U.S. state of Oregon on November 3, 2020. Primary elections were held on May 19, 2020. Federal President of the United States Former Democratic Vice President Joseph Biden beat incumbent Republican President Donald Trump, first elected in 2016, to receive Oregon's 7 electoral votes. United States Senate Incumbent Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley who was first elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2014 was re-elected for a third term in office. United States House of Representatives All five of Oregon's seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for re-election in 2020. Kurt Schrader
Walter Kurt Schrader (born October 19, 1951) is an American politician and veterinarian serving as the U.S. representative for since 2009. His district covered most of Oregon's central coast, plus Salem, and many of Portland's southern suburbs, and a sliver of Portland itself. A member of the Democratic Party, Schrader served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly from 1997 to 2008. Schrader ran for reelection in 2022. His district had undergone a major change after Oregon gained a seat, moving away from the coast and east of Salem, and taking in Deschutes County. Peter Anthony DeFazio (; born May 27, 1947) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for , serving since 1987. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Earl Francis Blumenauer ( ; born August 16, 1948) is an American lawyer, author, and politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 1996.
