2020 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2020 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the thirty-sixth season of the Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT), a stock car racing tour sanctioned by NASCAR. It began with the Wade Cole Memorial 133 at Jennerstown Speedway on June 21 and concluded at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on October 11. Justin Bonsignore won the championship, his second. Schedule On November 5, 2019, NASCAR announced the 2020 Whelen Modified Tour schedule. Among the 17 races was an inaugural stop at Iowa Speedway and returns to Jennerstown Speedway Complex and Martinsville Speedway. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the Martinsville date was cancelled, and many of the early-season races were postponed. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) (previously the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour and NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series from 1985 until 2005) is a modified stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR in the Modified Division. The Modified Division is NASCAR's oldest division, and is the only open-wheeled division that NASCAR sanctions. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events are mainly held in the northeastern United States, but the 2007 and 2008 tours expanded to the Midwest with the addition of a race in Mansfield, Ohio. North Woodstock, New Hampshire
North Woodstock is a census-designated place (CDP) and the primary village in the town of Woodstock in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. It had a population of 739 at the 2020 census. Geography It is located along the northern boundary of the town of Woodstock, adjacent to the town of Lincoln. Ron "Ronnie" Silk (born February 17, 1983) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 16 for Haydt Yannone Racing. Silk is the godson of two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Randy LaJoie. Silk is long-time competitor of the series, having made his debut in 2003, and has since won two championships in 2011 and 2023. Craig Lutz (born July 27, 1994) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 46 for Russell Goodale. Lutz started racing Late Models before moving up to the SK Modified division at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, and the Waterford Speedbowl, where he won multiple feature races. Frank Douglas Coby III (born August 18, 1979) is an American professional racing driver who last competed part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the SMART Modified Tour, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing. He has also competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing. In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race, although penalties may award it to the second fastest driver, as the pole position is statistically awarded to the driver starting in first position.
