2020 Liga 4 (Georgia)
The 2020 Liga 4 was the second season of fourth-tier football in Georgia under its current title. The matches were supposed to begin in April, but due to the COVID-19 restrictions it was postponed until 15 August. The season ended on 18 December. Liga 4 (Georgia)
Liga 4, organized by Georgian Football Federation, is the fourth tier of Georgian football league. It was founded in 2019 as a part of comprehensive reorganization of the league system. Structure and format In 2018, GFF decided to form an additional division between Liga 3 and Regionuli Liga by introducing Liga 4 for the 2019 season. After the first year the top two clubs were promoted to Liga 3 and the bottom two were supposed to be relegated to Regional league. However, in February 2020 the league regulation sustained new changes, which saved the doomed teams from relegation and enlarged the tournament with four more Regionuli Liga clubs. In January 2021, GFF announced that the number of clubs participating in the upcoming season would be increased to twenty, although for the next year they were reduced back to sixteen. FC Sulori Vani
FC Sulori is a Georgian football club based in the town of Vani. They currently take part in Liga 4, the forth tier of Georgian league system. The team has spent two seasons in the top flight. They play their home games at Grigol Nikoleishvili Stadium. History Sulori became champions of the Georgian Soviet league in 1969. This success enabled the club to participate in the Soviet Second Minor league the next year, which they finished in the 10th place among 18 teams. By claiming seven titles within nine years, Sulori became one of the leading members of the republican league in 1980s. In the same period twice in a row they clinched the Georgian Cup as well. When the national championship was formed, the team won the second division in 1990 and gained promotion to the tier. However, after two seasons they were relegated. Marneuli ( ka, მარნეული , az, Sarvan) is a town in the Kvemo Kartli region of southern Georgia and administrative center of Marneuli Municipality that borders neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia. FC Imereti ( Georgian: საფეხბურთო კლუბი იმერეთი) is a Georgian association football club from the town of Khoni. They currently take part in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. History Founded in 1936, Imereti spent many years in Georgian Soviet championship under the name ''Imereti Tsulukidze''. The second division has been the highest league they participated at any time since 1990. In 2014/15 Imereti, trained by manager Koba Zhorzhikashvili, won a tight competition against Sulori Vani for promotion to Pirveli Liga. The club pledged to become promotion chasers for the top flight and carry out some reconstruction of the stadium, which was regularly overcrowded during the matches. Zestafoni
Zestafoni or Zestaponi ( ka, ზესტაფონი, tr, ) is the administrative center of Zestafoni District in Western Georgia. Zestafoni is the center of an ancient, historical part of Georgia – Margveti, which is a part of Imereti province. Zestafoni is the center of Margveti's Eparchy of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Zestafoni is situated in the furthest east of the Colchis Plateau, and is built on both banks of the Qvirila River. FC Odishi 1919 is a Georgian association football club based in Zugdidi, the administrative centre of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. Being a municipal club, they currently take part in Liga 4, the forth tier of Georgian league system. History On 20 May 1919 two students of Zugdidi gymnasium Leo Chedia and Pier Kobakhidze organized a first football match in the city with ''Mertskhali'' (Swallows) represented as a local team. This date is considered a birthday for football in Zugdidi. The main football club of the city has had various names, especially after 1990, and as Dinamo Zugdidi, Odishi, Zugdidi, Baia, and Mglebi has taken part in Umaglesi Liga in different seasons. Lazika Zugdidi, the predecessor of Odishi 1919, competed in lower divisions in early 2010s.
