2020 Houston Dynamo Season
The 2020 Houston Dynamo season was the club's 15th season of existence since joining Major League Soccer prior to the 2006 season. The Dynamo missed the playoffs in 2020 for the 6th time in 7 years, finishing last in the Western Conference. The 2020 U.S. Open Cup was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020 was the Dynamo's first year with head coach Tab Ramos and the sixth season under General Manager Matt Jordan. Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional Association football, soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference. Established on December 15, 2005, the club was founded after their former owners relocated the San Jose Earthquakes' players and staff to Houston following the 2005 Major League Soccer season, 2005 season. For their first six seasons in Houston, the Dynamo were based at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. Zarek Chase Valentin (born August 6, 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a right back for Major League Soccer club Minnesota United. A former youth international for the United States, Valentin represents the Puerto Rico national team. Career College and amateur Valentin graduated from Manheim Township High School before enrolling at the University of Akron in 2009. Idrottsföreningen Elfsborg, more commonly known as IF Elfsborg or simply Elfsborg (), is a professional football club based in Borås, Sweden, and is affiliated to the Västergötlands Fotbollförbund. Adam Lundqvist (born 20 March 1994), sometimes spelled Adam Lundkvist, is a Swedish footballer as a left back. Alejandro Enriquez Fuenmayor Castillo (born 29 August 1996) is a Venezuelan professional footballer who plays as a defender for Phoenix Rising FC of the USL Championship. Cody Cropper (born February 16, 1993) is a retired American professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. Youth soccer Born in Atlanta, Cropper moved to Maple Grove, Minnesota when he was 10. He played with the Minnesota Thunder Academy and the Reading Rage, as well spending time with the US U-17 residency program at the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The SMU Mustangs men's soccer team represents Southern Methodist University in men's college soccer. The team currently competes in The American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs made their most recent appearance in the NCAA National Tournament in 2019, their third consecutive tournament appearance and fourth in five seasons. Michael Nelson (born February 10, 1995) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for FC Tulsa in the USL Championship. Career College & Youth Nelson attended and played soccer at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas. He helped them win a district championship and was named first team all-state.
