2020 Galician Regional Election
A regional election was held in Galicia (Spain), Galicia on Sunday, 12 July 2020, to elect the 11th Parliament of Galicia, Parliament of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was initially scheduled for 5 April 2020 but was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, COVID-19 pandemic. It was held simultaneously with a 2020 Basque regional election, regional election in the Basque Country. In early February 2020, concerns about a possible snap election in the Basque Country to be called for 5 April raised speculation on whether President of the Regional Government of Galicia, regional president Alberto Núñez Feijóo would be willing to advance the Galician regional election to be held concurrently with the Basque one, as had happened in 2009, 2012 and 2016, despite Feijóo's earlier claims that his will was against bringing about a premature end to the legislature. Galician Nationalist Bloc
The Galician Nationalist Bloc ( , BNG) is a political party from Galicia (Spain), Galicia, formed with the merger of a series of left-wing Galician nationalism, Galician nationalist parties. People's Party Of Galicia
The People's Party of Galicia ( Galician & Spanish: ''Partido Popular de Galicia'' , PP or PPdeG ) is a conservative political party in Galicia, Spain. It is the Galician affiliate of the Spanish People's Party. Prior to the 2005 Galician elections, the PPdeG had been in power for 15 years. In the election, the party won one seat shy of an absolute majority. ''ABC'' () is a Spanish national daily newspaper. Along with and , it is one of Spain's three newspapers of record.
