2020 Challenge Tour
The 2020 Challenge Tour is a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. After beginning with three tournaments in South Africa co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, the remainder of the season was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with many tournaments being cancelled or postponed. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2020 season. Challenge Tour Rankings The rankings were titled as the Road to Mallorca and were based on prize money won during the season, calculated using a points-based system. Ondřej Lieser
Ondřej Lieser (born 12 August 1991) is a Czech professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In 2020 he became the first golfer from the Czech Republic to win on the Challenge Tour with victory at the Andalucía Challenge de España, and the first Czech golfer to gain a full playing card on the European Tour. He represented the Czech Republic at the 2020 Summer Olympics tournament but finished at the last place. Amateur career Lieser represented the Czech Republic at the 2012 Eisenhower Trophy. Professional career Lieser turned professional after the 2012 Eisenhower Trophy and made his professional debut at the D+D Real Czech Challenge on the Challenge Tour in October 2012, were he earned his first pay check after finishing tied 33rd. Dimension Data Pro-Am
The Dimension Data Pro-Am is an annual golf tournament on the Southern African Sunshine Tour, founded in 1996. The tournament was co-sanctioned by the European Tour for the first two years. In 2020 it was co-sanctioned with the Challenge Tour and had increased prize money of US$340,000 (R 6,300,000). Since 2011 the winner has received an entry into the WGC Invitational. Vierumäki Finnish Challenge
The Finnish Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, Europe's second tier men's professional golf tour. It was first played at Golf Talma in Talma, Finland, from 2001 to 2003, but took a hiatus from 2004 to 2011. The 2012–14 editions of the tournament were played at the Kytäjä Golf Club in Kytäjä, Hyvinkää, Finland. The 2015 tournament was played at Aura Golf Club in Turku. Joël Stalter
Joël Stalter (born 8 July 1992) is a French professional golfer. Stalter played college golf at the University of California, Berkeley where he was a two-time All-American and won five tournaments. He represented Europe in the 2013 Palmer Cup. Stalter turned professional after graduating in 2014 and began playing on the Challenge Tour. He earned his first victory at the 2016 Swedish Challenge. 2020 European Tour
The 2020 European Tour was the 49th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 12th edition of the Race to Dubai. The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the season, with many tournaments being rescheduled or cancelled. All four major championships were affected; The Open Championship was cancelled, and the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open and PGA Championship were moved to dates much later in the year. After a three-month hiatus following the Qatar Masters in early March, the tour resumed with a much changed schedule in July. Marc Warren (born 1 April 1981) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won three European Tour victories in his career and finished 26th in the 2014 Race to Dubai, his strongest professional year. After a professional surge early in career, he endured a pair of challenging tournament losses in 2012 and 2013 before his strong 2014 showing. Austrian Open (golf)
The Austrian Open is a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour. It was founded in 1990, and was a European Tour event for seven straight years up to 1996, being held under a variety of names due to regular changes of title sponsor.
