Belarusian Second League
Belarusian Second League is the third tier of professional football in Belarus. It was established in 1992. History and format A strict number of teams and competition format are not defined for the league. Before the start of each season the format of the league is adjusted depending on how many teams are willing to participate and able to fulfill licensing criteria. A number of best teams (typically two, but not always) are getting promoted to Belarusian First League. * During 1992–1994, 2001–2002, 2004–2013 and since 2016 the League format was a simple double round-robin tournament (except for shortened 1992 season, which was a single round-robin tournament). 2021 Belarusian First League
2021 Belarusian First League is the 31st season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2021. Team changes from 2020 season Two best teams of 2020 Belarusian First League ( Sputnik Rechitsa and Gomel) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two last-placed teams of 2020 Belarusian Premier League ( Belshina Bobruisk and Smolevichi). FC Smorgon (6th-placed team of last year's season) were additionally promoted to Premier League to replace Gorodeya, who disbanded in the winter. Smorgon were chosen ahead of Krumkachy (who were denied a Premier League license) and two other teams (Arsenal Dzerzhinsk and Lokomotiv Gomel, who did not apply for license due to insufficient financing). FC Zhlobin
FC Zhlobin is a Belarusian football club based in Zhlobin, Gomel Oblast. History The team was founded in 1994 as Energiya Zhlobin. They played in Belarusian Second League for three seasons, and at the end of 1996 the club was folded. In 2003 the club was reformed as Kommunalnik Zhlobin. In the same year they joined Belarusian Second League, where they have been playing ever since. Kommunalnik showed some good results in their first five seasons. They were close to promotion in 2006 and 2007, but finished 4th both times. FC Viktoriya Maryina Gorka
FC Viktoriya Maryina Gorka is a Belarusian football club based in Maryina Gorka (Maryina Horka), Minsk Region. History The team was founded in 1990 as FC Belarus Maryina Gorka and until 1991, they played in the lower levels of the Belarusian SSR league. In 1992, Belarus joined the newly created Belarusian First League. After the 1992–93 season, Belarus withdrew to amateur level due to lack of funds. They returned to the professional level in 1996, when they changed their name to Energiya-TEC-5 Maryina Gorka and joined the Belarusian Second League. The next year, Energiya-TEC-5 relocated to the neighbour village Druzhny, and after the end of the 1997 season, the team was disbanded. FC Polotsk
FC Polotsk was a Belarusian professional football club based in Polotsk, Vitebsk Oblast, Belarus. History The club was founded in 2004 and joined Belarusian Second League the same year. In 2006 they made their debut in Belarusian First League, where they stayed until 2013. In September 2013, the club, struggling with financial troubles, announced its withdrawal from the league. They, however, were able to complete the season with youth players, finishing dead last after losing 15 games in a row. The club was officially dissolved in January 2014. FC Osipovichi ( be, ФК Асіповічы, russian: ФК Осиповичи) is a Belarusian football club based in Osipovichi, Mogilev Oblast. History FC Osipovichi was founded in 1994 as KRZ Osipovichi and started playing in the Belarusian Second League since the 1994–95 season. In 1997, they changed their name to FC Svisloch-Krovlya Osipovichi and won the Second league, receiving promotion to the First League. In 1998, Svisloch-Krovlya finished 2nd in the First League and were promoted to the Premier League.
