2019–20 Syrian Premier League
The 2019–20 Syrian Premier League season is the 48th since its establishment. This season's league featured one stage. It pitted one group of 14 teams and kicked off on 20 October 2019. Al-Jaish are the defending champions, having won the previous season championship. The season was suspended in March 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic in Syria, then resumed in May 2020. Al-Jaish Sports Club ( ar, نادي الجيش الرياضي) is a professional football club based in Damascus, Syria that competes in the Syrian Premier League, founded in 1947. The club plays at the Al-Fayhaa Stadium. The team colors are red and white. Al-Jaish is considered the most successful football club in the country and one of the most successful in the region, having won 17 official league titles, 9 Syrian Cups and 3 Syrian Super Cups, being the record holder in the number of league titles. Between 2015 and 2019, Al-Jaish won five consecutive league titles. Al-Jaish have won the domestic double four times. Al-Fayhaa Stadium ( ar, مَلْعَب ٱلْفَيْحَاء, Malʿab al-Fayḥāʾ) is a multi-use stadium in Damascus, Syria, currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home venue of the Syria national football team football team. 7 April Stadium ( ar, ملعب السابع من نيسان) is a football stadium in the Syrian city of Aleppo. Opened in 1948, the venue is considered to be the oldest football stadium in Syria.
