2019–20 Manhattan Jaspers Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Manhattan Jaspers basketball team represented Manhattan University (then called Manhattan College) in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaspers, led by 9th-year head coach Steve Masiello, played their home games at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 13–18 overall, 8–12 in MAAC play, to finish in a tie for eighth place. As the #9 seed in the MAAC tournament, they defeated #8 seed Fairfield in the first round before losing to #1 seed Siena in the quarterfinals. Previous season The Jaspers finished the 2018–19 season 11–21 overall, 8–10 in MAAC play, to finish in seventh place. As the No. 7 seed in the 2019 MAAC tournament, they defeated No. 10 seed Fairfield in the first round, before falling to No. 2 seed Canisius in the quarterfinals. Steve Masiello
Stephen John Masiello Jr. (born September 2, 1977) is an American college basketball coach and a former player. He is currently the associate head coach at St. John's. Masiello is a native of White Plains, New York. He graduated from Iona Grammar School in 1991 and attended Archbishop Stepinac High School for two years before transferring to the Harvey School in Katonah, New York. Masiello played collegiately as a walk-on at Kentucky for coaches Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith from 1996 to 2000. Though he rarely played, he was a member of two Final Four teams, including the 1997–98 Wildcats team that won the national championship. Masiello left Kentucky without completing his college degree in communications, despite information to the contrary on his Manhattan College and Louisville website bios. Bedford is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 23,322, reflecting a growth of 10% from 2010. Bedford is a suburb of Manchester, New Hampshire's largest city. History In 1733, the Province of Massachusetts Bay established Bedford as "Narragansett, No. 5" for the benefit of soldiers who fought against the Narragansett people in Rhode Island. The area was also known as "Souhegan East". The settlement was incorporated as "Bedford" in 1750, and was named for John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford. Lord Russell, a close friend of Governor Benning Wentworth, was the Secretary of State for the Southern Department from 1748 to 1751, and his first wife, Diana Spencer, was cousin of the influential Duke of Marlborough.
