2019–20 Angolan Basketball League
The 2019–20 Angolan Basketball League was the 42nd season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. On 14 May 2020, the Angolan Basketball Federation, FAB announced the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams Helmarc Academia withdrew from the league. The 2018–19 Angolan Basketball League was the 41st season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. On 19 May 2019, Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda won its 13th league title, which meant qualification for the 2020 BAL season, 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. The Angolan Men's Basketball League, (in Portuguese: Campeonato Nacional de Basquetebol em Séniores Masculinos) is the top tier men’s basketball league in Angola. The league was formerly known as BAI Basket, BIC Basket and Unitel Basket, named after its major sponsors, formerly Banco Africano de Investimentos, Banco de Investimento e Crédito and Unitel, the competition is organized by the Angolan Basketball Federation. The Pavilhão Anexo is an Angolan state-owned indoor arena located in Complexo Desportivo da Cidadela, Luanda. The arena, with a 1500-seat capacity, is the second to be built in the Cidadela Sports Compound, following the Pavilhão da Cidadela. It has a floating, hardwood flooring and electronic scoreboard and is ready for such sports as Basketball, Handball, Volleyball and Roller Hockey. Universidade Lusíada De Angola (basketball)
The Universidade Lusíada de Angola, also known as U.L.A. was an Angolan semi-professional basketball team which is named after its major sponsor, the Angolan Lusíadas University. The men's team made its debut at the Angolan premier basketball league ( BAI Basket) at the 2006–07 season whereas the women's team was established in February 2014 as it took over Juventude de Viana's women's basketball team, following the latter's disbanding. They stayed in the BAI Basket for ten straight seasons, before the team was forced to leave the competition in November 2021. Pavilhão Victorino Cunha, formerly Pavilhão do CODENM a.k.a. Pavilhão do Rio Seco is the Arena of Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto, mainly used for its Men's and Women's basketball teams. Pavilhão da Cidadela is an Angolan indoor sporting arena located in Luanda, Angola. The capacity of the arena is 6,873 people. It was the first season after the previous season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Petro de Luanda won its 14th championship.
