2019 Singapore Premier League
The 2019 Singapore Premier League (also known as the AIA Singapore Premier League due to sponsorship reasons) was the 2nd season of the Singapore Premier League, the top-flight Singaporean professional league for association football clubs, since its rebranding in 2018. A major overhaul from the new FAS management was made from this season onwards to improve the standard of Singapore football. Rules The following key changes were made to the rules for the 2019 season: # Singapore Premier League clubs could sign three imports from next season after the increase in foreign player quota was raised at the Football Association of Singapore's 36th Annual Congress # From 2019, only four stadiums host regular matches. Singapore Premier League
The Singapore Premier League, commonly abbreviated as the SPL, officially known as the AIA Singapore Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a men's professional football league sanctioned by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), which represents the sport's highest level in the Singapore football league system. The competition was founded as the S. League on 14 April 1996, after the FAS announced its intention to promote and expand the growing local football community by having a top-level domestic league. As of 2025, the league comprises eight clubs, consisting of four rounds in which each team plays every other team once. Seasons run from late August to May, with teams playing 28 matches each, totalling 112 matches in the season. Successful SPL clubs qualify for Asian continental club competitions, including the AFC Champions League Two. SPL currently does not practice promotion and relegation. Kyoga Nakamura
is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Singapore Premier League club Tampines Rovers. Born in Japan, where he was a youth international, he moved to Singapore in 2019 and has represented Singapore at international level since 2024. Jalan Besar Stadium, officially the Jalan Besar ActiveSG Stadium, is a football stadium located in Kallang, Singapore. The stadium is part of the Jalan Besar Sports and Recreation Centre, a community sports facility that includes the stadium as well as a swimming complex. Our Tampines Hub (abbreviated as OTH) is an integrated community and lifestyle building in Tampines, Singapore. It is located on the grounds of the former Tampines Stadium and Tampines Sports Hall and is part of the development of the Tampines#Tampines Regional Centre, Tampines Regional Centre. Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium (; abbrev. SNHB) is a multi-purpose stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is currently used mostly for association football matches. Jurong East Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Jurong East, Singapore. Geylang International Football Club is a professional football club based in Bedok, Singapore, that competes in Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. The club was founded in 1973 and played their first season in 1974, winning the FAS Division Three League which earned them a spot in National Football League Division One the following year.
