Leo Austria
Leovino R. Austria (born March 14, 1958), better known as Leo Austria, is a Filipino former professional basketball player and the current head coach of the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Playing career Austria played his college basketball for the Lyceum of the Philippines University while also suiting up in the commercial Philippine Amateur Basketball League via Masagana 99. In 1984, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ambassador's Cup before joining the PBA. In 1985, a new team Formula Shell drafted him, aside from nabbing fellow PABL standout Sonny Cabatu in the said draft. He made a quick impact for the new but veteran laden Shell squad and won the Rookie of the Year honors at season's end. His average of 3.9 points per game for that season marked the lowest average for a Rookie of the Year awardee up to that time. Marcio Lassiter
Marcio Tsongo Sandio Eshabarr Lassiter (born May 16, 1987) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He had a stint with the Philippine national basketball team, the Smart Gilas. Considered the best all-around sharpshooter in the PBA when Smart Gilas played as a guest team in the league, Lassiter plays the swingman position. Smart Araneta Coliseum
The Araneta Coliseum, also currently known by naming rights sponsorship as Smart Araneta Coliseum, is an indoor multi-purpose sports arena that is part of the Araneta City in the Cubao area of Quezon City, Philippines. Nicknamed as "the Big Dome", it is one of the largest indoor arenas in Asia, and it is also one of the largest clear span domes in the world. The dome measures approximately making it the largest dome in Asia from its opening in 1960 until 2001 when it was surpassed by the Ōita Stadium in Japan with a dome measuring . Chris Ross (basketball)
Christopher Michael Ross (born March 9, 1985) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Ross played high school basketball at John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, where as a junior, he sank a 50-foot half-court buzzer-beater to give Jay the 2002 Class 5A state basketball championship. After high school he played college basketball at McLennan Community College and Marshall University. Ross can play both guard positions and is currently the starting point guard for the Beermen. In his tenure with the Beermen, he is known for his defensive skills, thus recognized as one of the best defenders in the league. Christian Standhardinger
Christian Karl Standhardinger (born on ) is a Filipino-German professional basketball player for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was selected first overall by the San Miguel Beermen in the 2017 PBA draft making him the oldest first overall pick. Early life Standhardinger was born on July 4, 1989, in Munich, in then West Germany to a Filipino mother. His mother, Elizabeth Santos Hermoso traces her roots to the town of Angono, Rizal. Cuneta Astrodome
The Cuneta Astrodome is an indoor arena that is located in Pasay, Philippines. Since the 1993 PBA season, it was better known as the home of the Philippine Basketball Association. when it left the PhilSports Arena (that was then known as ULTRA), up until the 1998 and since 2001. It hosts the local basketball league sports competition. It has also hosted a slew of other political, evangelical gatherings and church anniversaries. It is also the permanent home of the Philippine Super Liga since 2014. Despite its name, the Cuneta Astrodome is not a dome-shaped indoor arena, since its exterior is rectangular in shape. History The Cuneta Astrodome was built to complement the adjacent Pasay City Sports Complex which is in a dilapidated state prior the Cuneta Astrodome's construction. Alexander Cabagnot Jr. (born December 8, 1982) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Terrafirma Dyip of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He plays the point guard position. Alex once had a rivalry with Mark Caguioa for the Eagle Rock High School scoring record. He is also part of the coaching staff of the UP Fighting Maroons men's basketball team in the UAAP. June Mar Sotto Fajardo (; born November 17, 1989) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is also known by his nickname "The Kraken” for his extraordinary size and finesse against opposing big men. Born in Compostela, he transferred with his parents to Pinamungajan at an early age, where he spent most of his younger and teen years.
