2019 Rift Rivals
The 2019 ''League of Legends'' Rift Rivals was the third League of Legends Rift Rivals, Rift Rivals – a series of cross-regional ''League of Legends'' tournaments organised by Riot Games. The tournament was held on 27–29 June 2019 in Los Angeles for the North America and Europe region, and 4–7 July 2019 in Seoul for China, South Korea, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau and Vietnam region. The Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau region and Vietnam region sent their top two teams for Spring season to Rift Rivals 2019 respectively. Riot Games had discontinued the Rift Rivals event for play-in region this year. ''League of Legends'' (''LoL'', commonly referred to as ''League'', is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. Inspired by ''Defense of the Ancients'', a Mod (video games), custom map for ''Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Warcraft III'', Riot's founders sought to develop a stand-alone game in the same genre. Since its release in October 2009, ''League'' has been free-to-play and is monetized through Freemium, purchasable character customization. The game is available for Windows and macOS. In the game, two teams of five players battle in player-versus-player combat, each team occupying and defending their half of the map. Each of the ten players controls a character, known as a "champion", with unique abilities and differing styles of play.
