2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series
The 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series was the 11th season of the Red Bull-sponsored international cliff diving series. The series began on 13 April in El Nido, Philippines, with the final event taking place on 14 September in Bilbao, Spain. Calendar The 2019 calendar included three locations that were new to the series: El Nido, Dublin and Beirut. The final event took place on 14 September in Bilbao. Divers The line-up of divers for the 2019 series was announced in November 2018. The men's series featured 10 permanent divers, with former Olympic divers Constantin Popovici and Oleksiy Pryhorov joining the permanent line-up for the first time. In the women's series, the line-up of six permanent divers included 23-year-old newcomer Eleanor Smart, who was the youngest permanent diver on the 2019 tour. Oleksiy Pryhorov ( uk, Олексій Вікторович Пригоров; born June 25, 1987 in Kharkiv) is a Ukrainian diver who won the bronze medal in the 3 m spring synchro along with Illya Kvasha in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The duo won gold at the same event during the 2010 European Aquatics Championships. The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, established in 2009 and created by Red Bull, is an annual international series of cliff diving events in which a limited number of competitors determine the Cliff Diving World Series winner. Divers jump from a platform at a height ranging from 26 to 28 m (85–92 ft). Competitions are held in a limited number of venues around the globe. Blake Aldridge
Blake Aldridge (born 4 August 1982) is a British synchronised diver, who dives for The Crystal Palace Diving Club. He is also a professional high diver and cliff diver on the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series where he has won 6 podium finishes. Biography Aldridge attended Downsview Primary School in Norbury London and then Stanley Technical High School for Boys in South Norwood London. Aldridge's original synchro partner Gavin Brown was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Southampton on 28 April 2007. During the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics he took part in the Men's 10m Synchronised event with his new diving partner, Tom Daley, 12 years his junior. The pair finished in eighth position in the final in an event dominated by the Chinese who claimed the gold. He criticised the 14-year-old Daley during the competition, which subsequently resulted in Aldridge himself being criticised. Constantin Popovici
Constantin Popovici (born 2 October 1988 in Bucharest) is a Romanian platform diver. In 2019, he became the first Romanian to achieve a first-place finish at a stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. He is the 2022 European champion in the 27 metre high dive. He has won multiple medals as part of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series and he won the bronze medal in the 27 metre high dive event at the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival in 2021. For the 10 metre platform event at the 2008 Summer Olympics, he placed twenty-third overall.
