2019 More Europe Leadership Election
The 2019 More Europe leadership election was a congressional primary election which took place on 25, 26 and 27 January 2019 at Milan to elect the new party leadership and to decide upon the political direction of the party. After the result of the 2018 general election, the three parties that cooperated to the electoral joint list agreed to move on and convert the electoral list into a full-fledged party. The main candidates to the Secretary are the former Member of the European Parliament, MEP Marco Cappato, current Chamber of Deputies (Italy), member of the Chamber of Deputies and former Member of the European Parliament, MEP Benedetto Della Vedova. With 55.7% of the votes, Benedetto Della Vedova was elected as Secretary of More Europe. Gianfranco Spadaccia (28 February 1935 – 24 September 2022) was an Italian journalist and politician. A member of the Radical Party and the Transnational Radical Party, he served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1983 to 1986 and again from 2 to 4 July 1990. The Senate of the Republic ( it, Senato della Repubblica), or simply the Senate ( it, Senato), is the upper house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Chamber of Deputies). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. Pursuant to the Articles 57, 58, and 59 of the Italian Constitution, the Senate has 200 elective members, of which 196 are elected from Italian constituencies, and 4 from Italian citizens living abroad. Democratic Centre ( it, Centro Democratico, CD) is a centrist, Christian leftist and social-liberal political party in Italy. Bruno Tabacci (born 27 August 1946) is an Italian politician and member of the Chamber of Deputies. He is the president of the Democratic Centre. In the past, he was member of Christian Democracy and served as the president of Lombardy from 1987 to 1989. Biography Tabacci was born in Quistello, Lombardy, in 1946. He later graduated in economics at University of Parma and worked as a consultant in economy and finance. During the early 1980s, he entered in the Ministry of Industry together with Giovanni Marcora and, subsequently, served as head of the Technical Secretariat at the Minister of Treasury with Giovanni Goria. Maurizio Martina (born 9 September 1978) is an Italian politician and member of the Chamber of Deputies, who served as secretary of the Democratic Party (PD) from March to November 2018, being appointed after the 2018 Italian general election.
