The 2019 Liège–Bastogne–Liège was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 28 April 2019 in Belgium. It was the 105th edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the 20th event of the 2019 UCI World Tour. It was won by Jakob Fuglsang. 2019 UCI World Tour
The 2019 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included thirty-eight road cycling events throughout the 2019 men's cycling season. It was the first time since the World Tour was launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009 that it was not a ranking competition in its own right. The tour started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 15 January and concluded with the final stage of the Tour of Guangxi on 22 October. Events The 2019 calendar was initially announced in June 2018, with the Abu Dhabi Tour being replaced with the UAE Tour, following its merger with the Dubai Tour. In September 2018, the Three Days of Bruges–De Panne was promoted to World Tour level, having been a 1.HC-categorised race in 2018. In November 2018, the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey was announced to be moving back to April, after the two most recent editions were held in October. Michael Woods (cyclist)
Michael Russell Woods (born 12 October 1986) is a Canadian racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam and is the first person to break four minutes in the mile and complete the Tour de France. Career Athletics career Woods' first sport was ice hockey and his childhood ambition was to play as a left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to becoming a cyclist, Woods was a promising middle-distance runner, setting Canadian national junior records in the mile and 3000 metres in 2005, as well as taking the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. However, he suffered a recurring stress fracture in his left foot, exacerbated by excessive training and racing, resulting in his running his last race in 2007. Wouter Lambertus Martinus Henricus Poels (born 1 October 1987) is a Dutch professional road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Poels was born in Venray. He almost lost a kidney after a massive crash on the sixth stage of the 2012 Tour de France. After competing with the squad since 2009, Poels moved to the squad for the 2014 season. Team Sky (2015–19) In September 2014, announced that Poels would join them from 1 January 2015. His first win for the team came in the 2015 Tirreno–Adriatico, where he led the team following the withdrawal of Chris Froome. David Gaudu (born 10 October 1996) is a French professional cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career In 2016, Gaudu won the Tour de l'Avenir, the most prestigious U23 cycling race. He placed fourth overall at the 2016 Tour de France and became the first British rider to win the young rider classification, one year ahead of his twin brother Simon. Jakob Diemer Fuglsang (born 22 March 1985) is a Danish professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam .
