2019 Korean Tour
The 2019 Korean Tour was the ninth season of the Korean Tour to carry Official World Golf Ranking points. The season consisted of 15 official events Three events are co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, one of which was also co-sanctioned with the Japan Golf Tour. All the tournaments had prize funds of at least 500 million won (approximately US$500,000). Nine had prize funds of 1 billion won ($1,000,000) or more. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2019 season. Order of Merit The Order of Merit was titled as the Genesis Points and was based on prize money won during the season, calculated using a points-based system. Kim Bi-o
Kim Bi-o ( ko, 김비오; born 21 August 1990) is a South Korean professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour. Amateur career As an amateur, Kim won the Korean Amateur Open and Japan Amateur Golf Championship in 2008. He also represented Asia/Pacific in the 2008 Bonallack Trophy and South Korea in the 2008 Eisenhower Trophy. Professional career Kim turned professional in 2009 and joined his home Korean Tour for 2010, winning the Johnnie Walker Open by 6 strokes. At the end of the 2010 season, he entered qualifying school for the PGA Tour and gained his playing rights in eleventh place. He lost his PGA Tour card after finishing 162nd on the money list. He split his 2012 season between the OneAsia Tour and Web.com Tour. Kim won for the second time as a professional in 2011 at the Nanshan China Masters on the OneAsia Tour. The KPGA Championship is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. Together with the Korea Open it is the longest running event on the Korean Tour. It is organised by the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA). Since 2016 the total purse has been KRW1,000,000,000 with KRW200,000,000 to the winner. Atiwit "Jazz" Janewattananond ( th, อติวิชญ์ "แจ๊ส" เจนวัฒนานนท์, born 26 November 1995) is a Thai professional golfer who plays on both the Asian and European Tours. Professional career Janewattananond turned professional in December 2010. In September 2011 he played in his first Japan Golf Tour event, the 2011 Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, where he made the cut and finished tied for 65th. Janewattananond achieved his first career win on the Asian Tour in February 2017 at the Bashundhara Bangladesh Open. Kolon Korea Open
The Kolon Korea Open, as it is currently known for sponsorship reasons, is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. The Korea Open was an event on the Asia Golf Circuit from 1970 until 1981. The Maekyung Open was founded in 1982 to replace it on the circuit, which allowed rescheduling of the Korea Open to later in the year. It became a stop on the Asian Tour from 1998 to 2008, except for 2005, and then part of the OneAsia Tour schedule from 2009 to 2017, before returning to the Asian Tour in 2018. In 2019, the total purse is KRW1,200,000,000 with KRW300,000,000 to the winner. The event has been played at Woo Jeong Hills since 2003. Descente Korea Munsingwear Matchplay
The Descente Korea Munsingwear Matchplay is an annual professional golf tournament hosted in South Korea and sponsored by the clothing company Munsingwear. The tournament has been held since 2010 and is part of the Korean Tour for men. Prize money was ₩400,000,000 in 2010 and 2011, ₩600,000,000 in 2012 and 2013, ₩800,000,000 from 2014 to 2016 and ₩1,000,000,000 in 2017 to 2019. The event was not held in 2020 but returned in 2021 with reduced prize money of ₩800,000,000. From 2010 to 2013 and in 2015 the event was played towards the end of season, in September or October. In 2014 it was played in May while from 2016 to 2019 it was played in June. Originally 64 players qualified to play 6 rounds of 18-hole match-play over 3 days.
