Southern Transitional Council
The Southern Transitional Council (STC; ) is a secessionist organization in southern Yemen. The 26 members of the STC include the governors of five southern governorates and two government ministers. It was formed by a faction of the Southern Movement. It was established in 2017, and it has called for and worked toward the separation of southern Yemen from the rest of the nation as it previously was until 1990. Declared on 11 May 2017, the council is headed by the former Governor of Aden Governorate, Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, as president, with former minister of state Hani Bin Breik as vice-president. The formation of the council was authorized a week earlier by the Historic Aden Declaration, announced at a rally protesting the dismissal of al-Zoubaidi from his post as governor. Abdul Latif Dayfallah (; 1928 – 27 March 2019) was a Yemeni military officer and politician who served as the Prime Minister of the Yemen Arab Republic during the North Yemen Civil War. He joined the North Yemeni Army in the 1950s and received military training at the Egyptian Military Academy in Cairo where he acquired Nasserist sympathies. At the time of the September 1962 coup, he held the rank of Major General and served as Director of Signals in the Yemeni military. Jamal Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al Badawi () (1960 or 1963 – 1 January 2019) was a Yemeni who was indicted as an accomplice for his role in the 2000 USS ''Cole'' bombing off the coast of Aden, Yemen, which killed 17 American sailors on 12 October 2000. Zinjibar
Zinjibar ( ''Zinjibār'') is a port and coastal town in south-central Yemen, the capital of Zinjibar District and the Abyan Governorate. It is located next to the Wadi Bana in the Abyan Delta. From 1962 to 1967, it was the administrative capital of the Fadhli Sultanate, although the royal residence remained at the former capital of Shuqrah. At the time of the 2004 census, Zinjibar's population numbered 19,879 inhabitants. The town supports a small seaside resort and fishing industry. Cotton (''Gossypium barbadense'') grown in the area is brokered in the market. History Zinjibar was a long-established trading center for commerce with the Far East. The Southern Yemen clashes were a series of clashes in the city of Aden between the pro-Hadi government troops backed by Saudi Arabia and Southern Transitional Council forces backed by the United Arab Emirates. The Southern Transitional Council took control of Aden and Zinjibar. Clashes Battle in Aden Clashes erupted on 7 August 2019 between the STC and pro-Hadi forces in Aden after a missile strike by Houthis killed several soldiers of the Security Belt forces in the city during a military graduation. Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed (Arabic: مَعِيِن عبد الملك سَعِيِد الصَّبْرِي; born 1976) is a Yemeni politician who served as the prime minister of Yemen from 2018 to 2024.
