2019 Hartford Athletic Season
The 2019 Hartford Athletic season is the club's inaugural season and their first in the USL Championship, the second tier of American soccer. The season covers the period from the founding of the club to the start of the 2020 USL Championship season. Roster Non-competitive Preseason Although a preseason schedule was not officially announced ahead of time, Hartford played four preseason matches ahead of the club's inaugural season. After opening preseason in Farmington, Connecticut and playing a behind closed doors friendly against New York Red Bulls II, Hartford announced three matches to be played while the club trained in Melbourne, Florida. Hartford Athletic is an American professional soccer team based in Hartford, Connecticut. The club was founded in 2018 and started play in the USL Championship in 2019. It is the only pro soccer team in Connecticut. History On June 8, 2021, Hartford Athletic announced they will be fielding a women's side to compete in the new USL W League beginning in 2022. Stadium The club plays on the grounds of Trinity Health Stadium, with a capacity of 5,500. The 1935 stadium was renovated and reopened on July 13, 2019, despite the fact the stadium was not completely finished. Lights were completed and first used for the stadium's first night game on September 14, 2019 (Hartford Athletic vs. Louisville City FC). Memphis 901 FC is an American professional soccer team based in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 2018, the team made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. Stadium The club currently plays on the grounds of AutoZone Park, a baseball stadium which is also home of the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC is an American professional soccer team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1999 and beginning play in 1999, the club plays in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Kyle Curinga (born December 30, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for KPV. Career College Curinga played college soccer as a midfielder at Florida Atlantic University for a single season in 2012. Professional Curinga moved to Finland, originally with GBK, and spent the 2016 season with FF Jaro. He moved back to the United States in 2017, signing with United Soccer League side Real Monarchs in March. Curinga was released by the Monarchs at the end of the 2017 season. Penn FC (formerly the Harrisburg City Islanders) was an American professional soccer team based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 2003, the team most recently played in the USL Pro, the second tier of the United States soccer league system. In October 2018, the club formally announced it will not participate in the 2019 season and would have resume play in 2020 as a member of USL League One, a league in the third tier. On November 15, 2017 the team was rebranded as Penn FC. The rebrand served in conjunction with a partnership with Rush Soccer youth development program. Frederik Due (born 18 July 1992) is a Danish professional footballer who last played as a goalkeeper for Eliteserien club Sandefjord. Professional Due played in his native Denmark from 2010 to 2018 for HB Køge and Randers.
