2019 Faroe Islands Cup
The 2019 Faroe Islands Cup was the 65th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 30 March and ended with the final on 21 September. B36 Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their sixth cup title the previous year, but lost to KÍ in the quarterfinals. Havnar Bóltfelag
Havnar Bóltfelag (HB, lit. 'Harbour football club') is a Faroese football club, and is one of the oldest in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 1904, and is based in the city of Tórshavn. Home matches are played in Gundadalur and they compete in the Faroe Islands Premier League. History HB Tórshavn was founded in October 1904. The club's first board was elected in a meeting, on 14 November 1904. The board consisted of three people: Mads Andrias Winther, Joan Pauli Joensen and Jakup Mouritsen. The future mayor of Tórshavn (1909–12), Mads Andrias Winther, was HB's first chairman. HB's first match against TB Tvøroyri took place on 23 May 1909, in Tvøroyri. The match ended in a 2–2 draw. Two months later, on 18 July 1909, a second match was organized against TB Tvøroyri, this time held in Tórshavn. HB won the match 3–1. B68 Toftir
B68 Toftir is a Faroese football club, playing in the village of Toftir in Betri deildin. History After being promoted to the 1. deild (now called Effodeildin) in 1980, they won the league 3 times: in 1984, 1985, and 1992. In 2004 they were relegated. 2005 saw them bounce back to the top flight, coming first in the second division, but they were again relegated from the Premier Division at end of the 2006 season. In 2007, they easily won the second division, and were promoted. In the 2008 season, they came 6th out of 10 in the Premier League. In the 2009 season, they finished in 4th place. In 2010, they finished as number 7 in the Effodeildin, and in 2011, they finished as number 6. In 2012, B68 Toftir ended as number 9 in Effodeildin and were relegated: they only needed to score one more goal against TB Tvøroyri in the final round to stay up. Símun Samuelsen
Símun Samuelsen (born 21 May 1985 in Vágur) is a retired Faroese football striker who played as a right or left winger and current head coach of AB Argir. Career Club career He made his debut in Faroe Islands Premier League Football with VB Vágur in the 2001 season, playing 3 games. After four more seasons at home, Samuelsen moved to Icelandic side Keflavík ÍF and in August 2007 went on loan to Norwegian First Division side Notodden FK. He is currently back playing for HB Tórshavn. On 20 July 2010 he scored a goal for HB Tórshavn in the UEFA Champions League match against FC Red Bull Salzburg, the match was played in Tórshavn. Adrian Justinussen
Adrian Rúnason Justinussen (born 21 July 1998) is a Faroese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Danish 1st Division club Hillerød Fodbold and the Faroe Islands national team. Club career Justinussen is a youth academy graduate of Havnar Bóltfelag. On 24 May 2020, he completed a hat-trick by scoring three free kicks in nine minutes in a league match against Argja Bóltfelag. On 3 March 2021, he signed a contract extension with the club until the end of the 2023 season. On 19 January 2024, Justinussen joined Danish 1st Division club Hillerød Fodbold on a two-year deal. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals " away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. Tórshavn
Tórshavn (; lit. "Thor's harbour"), usually locally referred to as simply ''Havn'', is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands. It is located in the southern part on the east coast of Streymoy. To the northwest of the city lies the mountain Húsareyn, and to the southwest, the Kirkjubøreyn. They are separated by the Sandá River. The city itself has a population of 13,957 (2022), and the greater urban area has a population of 21,078, including the suburbs of Hoyvik and Argir. Tórsvøllur
Tórsvøllur is a football stadium on the sport site of Gundadalur in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. The stadium holds 5,000 people, and was built in 1999 to become the country's national stadium to provide an artificial grass surface on which international football matches could be played. Previously, the Faroe Islands national team played its home matches in the town of Toftir at Svangaskarð stadium. In August 2011, floodlights were introduced; these were first officially used for the football match between Faroe Islands and Italy on 2 September 2011. Undrið FF
Undrið FF is a Faroese football team from the Faroese capital Tórshavn. The team also plays at the Hoyvíkvøllur. The club was founded 18 January 2006, under the name ''Undrið FF''. This makes the team one of the youngest member of the Faroe Islands Football Association. History The idea to found the new football team began with a birthday party in 2005. In the 2021 season, the team cruise-controlled through the season, gaining promotion to the 1. Deild for the first time in the club's history.
