2019 Campeonato Catarinense
The Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol de 2019 da Série A, known as the 2019 Campeonato Catarinense, was the 94th season of Santa Catarina's top-flight football league. The season began on 16 January and ended on 21 April. Avaí won on penalties their 17th title after beating Chapecoense in the final. The defending champions were Figueirense but they were eliminated by Chapecoense in the semi-final. Format The tournament was contested between 10 teams, who first played in a double round-robin in which the bottom two teams were relegated to next year's Série B. The final stage was a single-legged bracket contested by the top four teams. The Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol, known as Campeonato Catarinense or simply Catarinense, is the main competition of association football from state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. History The Campeonato Catarinense top level has had several different names since it started. From its first edition, in 1924, to 1985, it was called just Campeonato Catarinense (Santa Catarina Championship). From 1986 to 2003, it was named Campeonato Catarinense Primeira Divisão (Santa Catarina Championship Premier Division). Brusque Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Brusque, is a Brazilian professional club based in Brusque, Santa Catarina founded on 12 October 1987. History The club was founded on October 12, 1987, after Paysandu-SC and Carlos Renaux fused. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in 1988, being eliminated in the second stage. Blumenau
Blumenau is a city in Vale do Itajaí, state of Santa Catarina, in the South Region of Brazil. It is away from the state capital of Florianópolis. Itajaí () is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. It is located on the northern central coast of Santa Catarina and is part of the Vale do Itajaí Mesoregion, on the right bank of the Itajaí-Açu river mouth. Tubarão
Tubarão (lit. "shark") is a Brazilian municipality located in southern part of Santa Catarina state. The population, according to the IBGE/2020 estimate was 106,422. It is the main city of the Tubarão River basin region, which comprises 20 municipalities and a population of 350,000 inhabitants.
