2019 British Athletics Championships
The 2019 British Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for athletes in the United Kingdom, held from 24 to 25 August 2019 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. It was organised by UK Athletics. A full range of outdoor events were held up to 5000 metres. The competition served as the main selection event for the 2019 World Athletics Championships. The British Championships for 10,000 metres were held during the European 10,000m Cup as part of the Night of 10,000 metres PBs event at Highgate Stadium on 6 July. This event also served as the main qualification event for the 2019 World Championships 10,000 m. Selections for the men's and women's marathons were based on results in the 2019 London Marathon. Andrew Butchart
Andrew Butchart (born 14 October 1991) is a British runner who competed in the 5000 metres event at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the current Scottish record holder in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000 metre events. In June 2023, he broke the parkrun world record. Career Butchart has trained at the Central Athletic Club in Stirling. At the age of 16, Butchart came third in the Scottish schools cross-country championships. He won the 2014 Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash. Butchart won his first professional race in the 5000 metres event at the 2015 Scottish Seniors Championships; he also finished second in the 1,500 metres race. Neil Gourley
Neil Gourley (born 7 February 1995) is a Scottish middle-distance runner specialising in the 1500 metres. He won the silver medal in the event at both the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships and the 2023 European Indoor Championships and bronze at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships. Gourley is the European indoor record holder for the mile and the British indoor record holder for the 1500 m. He is a three-time national champion (1500 m). Guy Learmonth (born 20 April 1992 in Berwick-upon-Tweed) is a Scottish and Great British athlete specialising in the 800 metres. His PB currently stands as 1:44.73 and he is the 3rd fastest Scottish 800m athlete of all time. Learmonth reached the final at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 European Indoor Championships, finishing 6th in both.
