2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships
The 2019 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships was held from 20 to 25 August 2019 in Basel, Switzerland. Host city selection After Basel was selected to be the host of 2019 BWF World Championships in March 2019, the organizing team proposed to hold the able-bodied badminton world championships together the para-badminton world championships. The proposal was approved by Badminton World Federation thus marking the first time Para-Badminton World Championships is held together with World Badminton Championships in the same venue. Cheah Liek Hou (; born 8 March 1988) is a Malaysian para-badminton player. He is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist and a 14-time World champion at both SU5 singles and doubles events. He won the gold medal in the men's singles SU5 event at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Paralympics, making him the first Malaysian athlete to win a medal in para-badminton. Sukant Kadam (born 9 May 1993) is an Indian professional para-badminton player from Maharashtra. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris.
