2019 Antenna Awards
The 2019 Antenna Awards were held on 5 October 2019 at the Federation Square#The Edge, Deakin Edge at Federation Square in Melbourne. The ceremony was announced on 4 July 2019, and recognised excellence in Community television in Australia, Australian community television of the eligibility period, running between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2019. It was hosted by comedian and former ''Live on Bowen'' presenter Dilruk Jayasinha. The ceremony was broadcast live from 8:00pm AEST on C31 Melbourne, Channel 44 (Adelaide), Channel 44 Adelaide and West TV, WTV Perth, and was streamed live on Facebook. On 9 October, the ceremony was made available to stream on YouTube. Awards were presented in 24 categories. Program of the Year was awarded to ''The Leak with Pat McCaffrie'', while Personality of the Year was awarded to ''Emmylou Loves'' presenter Emmylou McCarthy. Federation Square
Federation Square (marketed and colloquially known as Fed Square) is a venue for arts, culture and public events on the edge of the Melbourne central business district. It covers an area of at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets built above busy railway lines and across the road from Flinders Street station. Indigenous Community Television
Indigenous Community Television (ICTV) is an Australian free-to-view digital television channel on the Viewer Access Satellite Television service. It broadcasts television programs produced by, and for, Indigenous Australians in remote communities. The channel is owned by membership-based company Indigenous Community Television Limited. Fishcam
Fishcam refers to a broadcast consisting of a video camera pointed at a fish tank. Australia Channel 31 Melbourne, Australia, had one of the more famous and long-lasting fishcams. The Fishcam itself was originally used as a replacement to the more common testcards, shown when the station had nothing else to air. Due to extreme popularity though, the ''FishCam'' became an actual scheduled show on the network. The station has also released several VHS tapes of the programme. The broadcast was accompanied by the music of unsigned Melbourne musicians. Rumours have abounded amongst fans that Channel 31 has played repeats of this programme while it has continued to be labelled "live". From 4 March 2007 the broadcasting of ''FishCam'' on Channel 31 has ceased. On 13 October 2014 ''FishCam'' returned at the new time of 9pm hosted by Luis from Lessons with Luis. ''Live on Bowen'' was a one-hour Melbourne comedy talk show and variety show produced by RMITV with the support of the RMIT Student Union which aired on C31 Melbourne. The show featured comedic segments, special guest interviews and music acts ranging from the up-and-coming to high-profile artists. Like its predecessor ''Studio A'', the show aimed to provide a platform to showcase an array of Melbourne’s up and coming talent. Origin of the name The word Bowen was taken from the name of the street that runs through the RMIT City Campus which building 12, the building the TV Studios are located, was situated. Aunty Donna
Aunty Donna is an Australian surrealist comedy group formed in Melbourne in 2011. The group currently consists of performers and writers Mark Bonanno, Broden Kelly and Zachary Ruane, alongside writer and director Sam Lingham, director Max Miller and composer Thomas Zahariou (formerly Armstrong). 2019 Australian Federal Election
The 2019 Australian federal election was held on Saturday, 18 May 2019, to elect members of the 46th Parliament of Australia. The election had been called following the dissolution of the 45th Parliament as elected at the 2016 double dissolution federal election. All 151 seats in the House of Representatives (lower house) and 40 of the 76 seats in the Senate (upper house) were up for election. The Community Cup (known as the Reclink Community Cup since 2009 under naming rights) is an annual charity event which features a celebrity mixed-gender Australian rules football match. It is noted for its cult following, celebrity appearances and media profile. Adelaide Fringe
Adelaide Fringe, formerly Adelaide Fringe Festival, is Australia’s biggest arts festival and is the world's second-largest annual arts festival (after the Edinburgh Festival Fringe), held in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. ''Off the Couch with Ethan'' is an Australian travel television program, produced and presented by student Ethan White. The program is aimed at teenagers and their families, and presents Australian landmarks, towns and points of interest. It airs on C31 Melbourne & Geelong and Channel 44 Adelaide. Episodes are directed at high-school-aged students and their families. History White was born in Adelaide, South Australia and resides in the town of Gawler, 40 kilometres north of Adelaide. ''In Pit Lane'' is an Australian motor sports television show produced in conjunction with RMITV currently broadcasting on C31 Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia with the support of Online Invent a Melbourne based SEO and Web Design Company. In Pit Lane began in 1996 on the now defunct OptusVision service before moving to C31 in 1999. The program is produced and staffed entirely from volunteer members of Melbourne Student Community Television Inc. trading as RMITV.
