2019 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Men's Slalom
The men's slalom in the 2019 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup involved 12 events, including two parallel slaloms (both city events}. Marcel Hirscher of Austria won his sixth championship in the discipline, all in the prior seven years, on the way to his eighth straight overall men's championship. During the season, Hirscher had hinted at retiring after it, and before the start of the next season, he did announce his retirement. The season was interrupted by the 2019 World Ski Championships, which were held from 4–17 February in Åre, Sweden. The men's slalom was held on 17 February. Slalom Skiing
Slalom is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline, involving skiing between poles or gates. These are spaced more closely than those in giant slalom, super giant slalom and downhill, necessitating quicker and shorter turns. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and at the Olympic Winter Games. Daniel Yule
Daniel Yule (born 18 February 1993) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer and specializes in slalom. Born in Martigny, Valais, he is of Scottish parentage. Racing career Yule rose quickly to make his World Cup debut in the 2012 season in Kitzbühel at the age of 18, he had achieved his first points at the European Cup level just a month earlier. Having had a year of solid results in the European Cup in 2013, he became a World Cup regular for the 2014 season. 2014 After earning his first European Cup victory in the early 2014 season, Yule achieved his first World Cup points in the third slalom of the year, a race that was moved to Bormio, where he took 17 place. Clément Noël (born 3 May 1997) is a French World Cup alpine ski racer and specialises in the slalom discipline. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, placing fourth in the slalom, then became the gold medalist in slalom at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Planai
Planai is a ski area in central Austria, the main mountain in the Schladming area in Styria. It is one of four adjoining mountains, which includes Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm, connected under the name Schladminger 4-Berge-Schaukel. It is not regarded as a single mountain and all text from the official website cites the total amount of pistes. Planai was the host venue of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2013, held in early February. Hahnenkamm, Kitzbühel
The Hahnenkamm is a mountain in Europe, directly southwest of Kitzbühel in the Kitzbühel Alps of Austria. The elevation of its summit is above sea level. The Hahnenkamm (''German'': rooster's comb) is part of the ski resort of Kitzbühel, and hosts an annual World Cup alpine ski race, the ''Hahnenkammrennen''. The most famous slope on the Hahnenkamm is the classic downhill course, the '' Streif'' (streak, or stripe), which is regarded as the most demanding race course on the World Cup circuit. The course features highly technical, "fall-away" turns (reverse bank), many with limited visibility. It also contains several flat gliding sections, immediately preceded by difficult turns, placing a premium on both technical and gliding skills.
