2019 ARCA Pensacola 200
The 2019 ARCA Pensacola 200 presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions was the second stock car race of the 2019 ARCA Menards Series season and the 6th iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, in Pensacola, Florida, at Five Flags Speedway, a paved oval-shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 200 laps to complete. At race's end, Michael Self of Venturini Motorsports would take the lead from Kaden Honeycutt in the late stages of the race to take home his fourth ARCA Menards Series win and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing and Christian Eckes of Venturini Motorsports would finish second and third, respectively. The Pensacola 150 is a annual ARCA Menards Series East race held at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. History The event has been part of the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East (previously the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) schedules and has come and gone from both throughout its history. It was originally held from 1992 to 1996 in what was then known as the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series, brought back in 2013 and 2014 as an East Series race, brought back in 2019 as an ARCA Menards Series race, and then moved back to the East Series after NASCAR's acquisition of ARCA. The race has been the season-opener for the East Series since 2023 when the race at New Smyrna Speedway was removed from the schedule. Christian Donald Eckes (pronounced "eck-iss"; born November 10, 2000) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 16 Chevrolet SS for Kaulig Racing, and part-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 19 Chevrolet for Bill McAnally Racing. Eckes is the 2019 ARCA Menards Series champion, won the Snowball Derby in 2016, and was formerly a development driver for JR Motorsports and later Toyota. Wayne Peterson (born May 24, 1938) is an American professional stock car racing owner/driver and former paratrooper and United States Army Special Forces member. He currently operates Wayne Peterson Racing, a team in the ARCA Menards Series. Military career Peterson grew up in a poor family in Boaz, Alabama, and when he was 15 years old, his high school was visited by Army National Guard recruiters. Attracted by the benefits of food and clothing, he enlisted and entered active duty at 16, but was sent back to school upon the discovering of his age. After graduating, he returned to the military and was stationed at Fort Bragg as a paratrooper in the XVIII Airborne Corps. Timothy Richmond (born September 12, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 27 car for his team, Richmond Motorsports. Racing career Prior to driving in the ARCA Menards Series, Richmond competed in a road racing series. Richmond made his debut in ARCA and stock car racing as a whole at Five Flags Speedway, Five Flags in 2019, driving for Wayne Peterson (racing driver), Wayne Peterson in his team's No. 06 car. Although he did finish 25 laps down (in 14th), he left the team impressed, as he was able to finish the race, something the team had not been able to accomplish much with other drivers.
