2018–19 Gozo First Division
The 2018–19 Gozo First Division (known as the BOV GFL First Division for sponsorship reasons) was the 72nd season of the Gozo Football League First Division, the highest division in Gozitan football. The season began on 14 September 2018. Victoria Hotspurs were able to defend the title won the previous season, winning their thirteenth title in their history. Format The season is composed of a round-robin system where each team plays each other three times, totalling 21 games. The seventh-placed team will play a relegation play-off with the second-placed team in the Second Division. Most of the matches are scheduled to be played at the Gozo Stadium, with Sannat Ground and Kerċem Ajax Stadium being used as well. Teams Eight teams compete in the league – the top six teams from the previous season, the winner of the relegation play-off between the seventh-placed team and the second-placed team in the Second Division, and a promoted team from the Second Division. Gozo Football League First Division
The Gozitan First Division, known for sponsorship reasons as the BOV GFL First Division, is the top division of the Gozo Football League, the league competition for men's football clubs in Gozo. The GFL First Division is played on three rounds where each team plays each other once, with a total of 21 games played in total by each team, usually held between the months of September and April. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned league champion, while the bottom club is relegated to the Second Division. A relegation play-off match takes place between the seventh-placed team in the First Division and the second-placed team in the Second Division, with the winner securing a place in the following season's First Division. Kerċem Ajax F
Ta' Kerċem is a village in Malta, in the island of Gozo, with a population of 1,938 people as of March 2014. Ta' Kerċem evolved into a village community around chapel dedicated to Pope Gregory the Great built around 1581 and replaced in 1851 by a church which was enlarged to its present state between 1906 and 1910. Ferdinando Apap
Ferdinando Apap (born 29 July 1992) is a Maltese footballer who plays for Victoria Hotspurs as a defender. Club career Apap has played club football for Għajnsielem, Sheffield, Mosta, Xewkija Tigers and Victoria Hotspurs. He was the Gozo Football Association Player of the Year for the 2013–14 and 2018–19 seasons. On 1 June 2019, he joined Hibernians on a three-year deal. He returned to Victoria Hotspurs in June 2024. Nadur
Nadur () is an Local councils of Malta, administrative unit of Malta, located in the eastern part of the island of Gozo. Nadur is built on a plateau and is one of the largest localities in Gozo. Known as the 'second city', it spreads along a high ridge to the east of Victoria, Malta, Victoria. It had a population of 4,509 as of March 2014. Munxar
Munxar () is an administrative unit of Malta, which lies on the southern side of the island of Gozo. As of March 2014, its population was 1,454 people. Close to this village, there is Xlendi Bay, a popular tourist resort engulfed in a fjord-like inlet amongst high cliffs. Xlendi Bay is a small fishing village, but is also an ideal bathing and diving resort especially in summer. Għarb
Għarb () is an administrative unit of Malta, located at the westernmost point of the island of Gozo, with a population of 1,549 people (as of 2021). Għajnsielem
Għajnsielem (; meaning "Spring of Sielem") is a municipality on the southeastern coast of the island of Gozo in Malta, including the entire island of Comino. It has a population of 3,200 residents (as of March 2014), and is the first Gozitan village that greets the visitor on leaving Mġarr Harbour towards the Gozitan heartland. Its name originated from the water spring, around which in 1700, Grandmaster Perellos built an arcade containing public wash basins and fresh water spouts.
