2018 Washington House Of Representatives Election
The 2018 Washington House of Representatives elections took place as part of the biennial United States elections. Washington state voters elected state representatives in all 98 seats of the House, electing 2 state representatives in each of the 49 Washington state legislative districts. State representatives serve two-year terms in the Washington House of Representatives. A statewide map of Washington's state legislative districts is provided by the Washington State Legislaturhere . A top two primary election on August 7, 2018, determined which candidates appeared on the November 6 general election ballot. Each candidate is allowed to write in their party preference so that it appears as they desire on the ballot. Democrats increased their 50–48 majority in the 2016 elections by flipping seven seats to hold 57 seats to Republicans' 41. Bill Ramos
William George Ramos III (April 6, 1956 – April 19, 2025) was an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Washington State Senate representing the state's 5th district from January 2025 until his death in April 2025. He previously served in the Washington State House of Representatives representing the 5th district from 2019 to 2025. Before his legislative career, Ramos was a member of the Issaquah City Council from 2016 to 2018. Jay Rodne
Jay Robert Rodne (born March 21, 1966) is an American lawyer and politician of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party. He is a former member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the Washington's 5th legislative district, 5th Legislative District. Rodne is of Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians ancestry. He was appointed to the House in 2004 and did not seek reelection in 2018. Career Rodne was the primary sponsor for 13 bills in the 2015–2016 session. Matthew Thomas Shea (born April 18, 1974) is an American far-right lawyer, pastor, and politician. A Republican, he represented the 4th legislative district in the Washington House of Representatives from 2009 to 2021. A 2019 report published by the Washington House of Representatives accused Shea of domestic terrorism in relation to his role in a series of standoffs with federal authorities. In October 2018, Shea acknowledged that he had distributed a four-page manifesto which called for the killing of non-Christian males if a war were to occur and they do not agree to follow fundamentalist biblical law. Timothy Sean Ormsby (born June 17, 1959) is an American politician. He is a Democratic member of the Washington House of Representatives, and represents Washington's third district since 2003. Ormsby went to North Central High School in Spokane, Washington. His brother, Michael C. Ormsby, was the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington. In 2018, Ormsby was charged with a DUI after rolling his Jeep, however that charge was dropped in exchange for his guilty plea to reckless driving. The next year he blocked a bill that would have made receiving four (4) DUIs in a fifteen (15) year period a felony offense. In 2025, Ormsby, along with Rep.
