2018 USA Sevens
The 2018 USA Sevens (also sometimes referred to as the 2018 Las Vegas Sevens) was the fifteenth edition of the USA Sevens tournament, and the sixth tournament of the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament was played between 2 and 4 March 2018 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament was won by the United States who beat Argentina 28–0 in the final. This was the first time that the United States won its home tournament. USA's Perry Baker led the tournament with 8 tries and 11 breaks. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each, with each team playing every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup/5th place brackets. The bottom two teams from each group went to the Challenge trophy/13th place brackets. 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, was the 19th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. James Stannard
James Stannard (born 21 February 1983) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He can operate as a scrum-half or fly-half. He previously played for the Western Force and Brumbies Super Rugby. Jerry Tuwai
Seremaia Tuwai Vunisa (born 23 March 1989), also known as Jerry Tuwai, is a Fiji rugby union player who plays for the Fiji national rugby sevens team. Tuwai made his debut for at the 2014 Gold Coast Sevens. He was part of the Fiji Sevens team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He was named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in 2019. He was awarded player of the tournament at the 2014 World Club 7s where he played for the Davetalevu Club. He was also Player of the Final at the 2015 Dubai Sevens. Tuwai was also the stand out player at the 2015 Las Vegas Sevens final when beat 35-19. Cecil Sebastian Afrika (born 3 March 1988) is a South African rugby sevens player for the South Africa national team, where he plays at flyhalf. He also plays for the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR). Afrika was a member of the South African Sevens team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Danny Barrett (born March 23, 1990) is an American rugby player who plays as a forward. He previously played for the U.S. national rugby team, and also played for the U.S. national rugby sevens team. Barrett was in the Men's Eagles Sevens pool for the World Rugby Sevens Series until late 2021. Folau Niua (born January 27, 1985) is an American rugby union former player. He played fly-half for the United States national rugby sevens team from 2011 to 2022, and holds the U.S. record for most tournament appearances with over 65 caps. Early career Folau Niua is from East Palo Alto in California, and attended high school at Woodside High.
